The analogy was submitted to several universith economist and to a man (and three women ) they all responded “Assume a Tunnel”
Here’s what I wrote back in April when the S&P first threatened to review our credit rating:
So your in an out of control bus screaming down the road at 100 mph. Everyone inside is debating whether the best plan is to slow down or speed up.
You look out the window and notice increasingly larger signs that say Bridge Out Ahead. The signs get bigger and bigger. They begin to flash. They have sirens on them. The debate about whether to slow down or speed up grows more heated.
Finally, as the ruined bridge appears on the horizon everyone begins to agree (grudgingly) that slowing down (temporarily) might be a good idea. Yet no one is talking about hitting the brakes, they are only interested in easing off the gas (a little).
As you stand there in the middle of the bus, frantically trying to direct everyones attention to IMPENDING DOOM, S&P jumps up and announces that the temperature gage is reading abnormally high and he may be forced to admit publicly that the bus is not well operated if the drivers don’t make a decision soon.
And that’s when the panic starts.
A great benefit isn’t it!!? If I don’t want to see/talk to any of ‘em, (the very few there are near here, I’d guess the nearest town of about 650 pop. goes about 95%-5% conservative/liberal), I just don’t come down out of the mountains!
Whuts a “buS?”
Whuts a driver?
(Typical libtard)
The problem with this scenario is that if you start braking at 70 ft it won’t make much difference in the result compared to not braking at all. Change the distance to 100 yards.
Nah, the bus driver is from Kenya and that's how they drive busses there.Driver drives bus into the ditch and then ask passengers to bail him out.
The government is trying to put up a one-foot wall to stop a 20-foot tsunami.
When it comes to the bus, the brakes were broken a long time ago (from the FDR days) and the bus is already traveling at 70 mph (thanks to the ‘Great Society’ of LBJ), and when it comes to the wall, it’s actually a 1,000 foot cliff (thanks to Obama and the democrats starting in 2007). It’s actually too late, and any attempts to stop the bus will just delay the inevitable.
Thread winner!
Thread winner!
Actually, the liberals would be screaming that the bus is going 75 MPH, and the police need to stop it and give the driver a ticket, thus increasing ‘revenue’ for the government.
Also, is it an eco-friendly bus?
LOL
“Was the driver union or non-union?”
He's from Kenya, but I don't think it matters now that he's started to scream "allah akbar!"
The Republicans have in their hands the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to force the Administration into good sense, while avoiding the political fallout.
Unfortunately for them and for the country, President Obama and his key Democrat allies appear to have terrified the Republican establishment into believing that if they stand up for prudent finance, default will result and conservatives will be blamed for it.
