Among the Tax-takers (getting tattoos on their backsides)

....I can't talk specifics about my time at the IRS, but here are some generalities. Those claiming EITC also qualify for other so-called refundable credits (how can something be refundable when nothing is paid in the first place?). The typical 1040 would show an income of between $12,000 to $18,000 for the year. It was usually accompanied by one W-2 with the income earned almost always by a female. With other refundable credits listed, a "refund" would be claimed of between $6,000 and $9,000.

And these people believe that is their money; they have a right to it. I fielded a telephone query from a woman who didn't even say hello, but blurted, "I haven't got my taxes." For an instant I thought she meant that she didn't have enough money to pay her taxes, but I quickly realized she was talking about her "refund." We newbies learned that those who pay taxes have a general fear of calling the IRS and tend to be nice on the telephone, while those who don't pay any taxes believe they are entitled and are not always pleasant to deal with. We also learned these aren't the brightest people on the planet with many signing their refund over to a tax-preparer and then claiming they didn't know they had done that. (The "instant refund" scam perpetrated by many storefront tax-preparers is a whole other story.)

...A golfing buddy said his girlfriend's daughter claims EITC among other things and received a U.S. government check for $6,000. She used the money to take her toddler daughter and the child's ne'er-do-well father to the Monterey Bay Aquarium -- a couple hundred bucks -- and spent the remainder for a giant tattoo on her back. I'm so glad I could help....

“we’ve had nurses aides who stay UNMARRIED but living with their “significant” other just so they can claim the big money at the end of the year.....”

This is common here in Illinois. As I go through the statistics that pertain to our school district (the 2nd largest in the state), I am amazed at how many students and families of students are on public aid of some sort. It ranges from 40%-85% depending on neighborhood. One of the common denominators is that the head of household is unmarried, works part time, or is unemployed and claim dependency of the children.

I have no real evidence that this is done on purpose to obtain public aid, but I have plenty of anecdotal evidence.

And, no, these are not all minorities. Yes, greatest chunk comes from self described Latino, the 2nd chunk comes from African American yes, but when one adds up the number for the 3rd group (White/Mixed) it can be jaw dropping.

We created a whole new welfare class here with the Latinos, and politicos trying to court their vote (both sides of the aisle, for sure). I remember growing up, one could observe that blacks were the only minority class. As many blacks migrated into the working environment, it seems that Latino’s were brought in to fill the gap.

I have little doubt that creating and keeping a good percentage of Americans on welfare was indeed the goal. Both in order to retain / increase government jobs and to buy votes for those running for office.

My wife observed that in this country, there is very little incentive to be married, and indeed, if you are middle income or lower, the incentive for mothers is to remain single by far. She also noted that we are now on the path that even owning a home or property is becoming a liability, as we have seen our own property values shrink (for many reasons), while our taxes on said properties have gone up several hundred percent over the last 15 years, and now with the elimination of the Interest Deduction sitting on the table, and with home ownership disqualifying so many folks from being “on the dole”, she thinks (and quite possibly so), that as far as the depressing housing markets go... “we aint seen nothin yet”.

As has often been said, (perpetually) poor people have poor ways.

In the last 20 years, we’ve gone on vacation 3 times. Always seems to be something more important do to with the money! :/

Speaking of tattoos, you know that there's money available for these types for tattoo removal, you know, to help “transition” them into the workforce.

I laughed out loud when I saw it on TV.

Transition them into the workforce my ass - they are just looking to remove their “colors” to join another gang or remove a baby-daddy or baby-mama name - so they can land another layabout to make another bastard with to collect more tax dollars from.

paid by legal taxpayers.<<

That us who Ted Kennedy intended it for. He figured they needed cash not foodstuffs or more school supplies so he did his damnedest to get it for them.

My sister is a public school teacher. She said you can almost automatically pick the “receiver” kids out because they have the newest and best clothes, sneakers, backpacks, etc.

I can pick them out in the grocery store too. They never compare prices.

So who did you believe? The professionals or a writer who is trying to stir the bucket?

I started my company (with a partner) 5 years ago. Started slow, but I’m making good money now. My wife quit work, so she goes on vacation by herself 3 or 4 times a year, spends a week at a time with her dad or our kids. We go someplace together, usually on a weekend, a couple of times a year. I’m too focused on this place to feel comfortable leaving for more than a day or so. We could afford to go on cruises together if we wanted. My business partner is always talking about retirement (we’re late 50’s), but I haven’t even considered it. I actually enjoy work now.

Well, I’m still with the same people. But I just think if times get worse, there are no depths the govt won’t sink to to confiscate wealth.

SE Los Angeles has people all over the place from what I hear making no money, on welfare and who end up filing what is in fact false tax returns for 3-7 thousand dollars.

Yep, tax preparers that probably will vanish do this and they think this is normal to make nothing and get thousands back.

Isn’t America great?

Funny. These libs all say they want to help others and how sad it is. When you ask them to put up the cash-they usually shut up or make excuses.

I fielded a telephone query from a woman who didn't even say hello, but blurted, "I haven't got my taxes."

Well, that explains the Republican tax cut message doesn't play well among large blocks of voters - taxes are something they get, not something they pay. :)

...... very few of us know, how much of our tax money is given away to non-taxpayers — in a lump sum, to do with as they please. The Earned Income Tax Credit was a temporary 1975 anti-poverty program----visualized as a tool to lift the working poor out of poverty. It was quickly made permanent and modified numerous times over the ensuing 36 years. In 2004, 20 million families received $36 billion EITC. Sap-happy liberals assume $36 billion was spent by desperately poor people on food, shelter, and health care. We, who live in the real world, know it was spent on big-screen TVs, 22" chrome wheels, colorful tattoos..... those living below the "poverty level" tend to own cars, TVs, computers, cell phones, air-conditioning, and pricey video game consoles. Free EITC money is not counted into "poverty level" calculations.............

REFERENCE Earned Income Tax Credit is available only to immigrant workers who obtain legal work status. But the law allows immigrants to claim EITC for up to three years prior to obtaining that status. Workers simply file a tax return for the years in which they were not legally eligible to work in the US.

The most widespread EITC abuse stems from the requirement that children live with the worker for more than six months of the year. IRS does little to verify the claim. Many immigrants claim non-existent children, or claim children who they’ve left behind with relatives. Those with two or more children and income below $32,121 could get as much as $4,008.

It is estimated that illegals got $22 billion EITC checks so far (could be more, much more)..and that's with one identity. Evidence shows illegals establish multiple identities to ride the US gravy train.

DON'T WORRY, THEY EAT WELL EBT food stamp cards are issued to illegal immigrants w/ children who are US citizens (anchor babies) who qualify for US benefits. The county can’t issue EBT cards directly to those under 18, so they are issued to the illegal head of household, instead.
