New disagreement erupted late on Saturday between congressional Democrats and Republicans over the timetable for increasing U.S. borrowing authority, possibly jeopardizing efforts to avert a default.

Democratic and Republican leaders escalated their fight despite instructions from President Barack Obama earlier to produce a budget plan by Monday that would clear the way for Congress to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling by August 2.

Saying he was "deeply disappointed" by the lack of progress toward a deal to raise the credit limit built around deficit cuts, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said Republican "intransigence" was "pushing us to the brink of a default on the full faith and credit of the United States."

The latest flare-up centered around a Republican plan being proposed behind closed doors calling for two installments of debt limit increases and deficit reduction.

##

Who the hell does this big eared fool think he is?

They should produce a plan that immediately repeals Obamacare, eliminates the departments of education, energy, housing and urban development, and Labor, as well as the BATF and the TSA.

Then Boehner should summons president Flapper to the Capital and instruct him to get his flunkies in the Senate to pass it.

Rooters got it wrong again.

Two bills 1) Increase limit 6 months and cut about $1 trillion now. 2) Set up debt commission or some such nonsense.

That $1 trillion is already on the chopping block under existing policies.

He acts like a dictator; it’s not a surprise the press portray him like one too.

Here's a line for the Republicans...

“We wanted to consider a plan to go back to the spending levels in the 2010 budget except...

THERE WASN'T ONE!”

Boehner should hold a press conference and say the following:

“I will no longer negotiate behind closed doors with people who move the goalposts at every opportunity and claim that they are close to agreements which were never within reach. There should be transparency in this process. The Senate hasn’t passed a budget in two years, because the leadership over there wants Republicans in the House to do all the hard work and take all the political heat for making real reforms that will lead to real deficit reduction. Well, we’ve done that, and the bill is tabled over there in the Senate. When they are ready to debate it and amend it and pass it, then we can sit down in conference and hammer out a final deal. Until then, I’m going to play golf.”
