With Friday's vote over, senators quickly moved to vacate the floor. Cars were waiting outside to whisk members to airports to take flights home. Though the Senate was originally scheduled to be in session, Reid, D-Nev., noted that would not be the case and no votes would be taken before Monday afternoon.
Reid said that the session wasn't necessary because Obama and Boehner were working on a compromise measure. He said he understands the plan addresses both taxes and revenue, and therefore must originate in the House, giving the Senate no reason to work.
Another person hot about the talks was Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.. Speaking Friday before the Senate vote, Feinstein expressed her anger about not knowing the numbers of a deal. Feinstein, who rarely loses her cool, said she lost it on Office of Management and Budget Director Jack Lew on Thursday, because Lew would not say whether there was a deal at hand, even though the newspapers were reporting progress.
Feinstein said she would "venture a guess" that about 20 million people in her state benefit from Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and veterans benefits, and they need to know what the coming cuts are.
"I represent a huge state where huge numbers of people are dependent on us," she said. "We always knew what was going on (with Presidents Bush and Clinton). None of that (information) is available to us now, and that's not good. ... It doesn't help you build a team."

It looks to me like there is a lot of lying going on! Politics as usual!
It should be noted that, in the vote, McCain let us down again. McCain is RINO to the bone.
There should be a recall campaign against Harry Reid.
.
With ‘cars were waiting outside to whisk members’ the Senate didn’t put an honest effort into solving Geithner’s cry for help, he should have a few thing to say about that too.
Geithner will have to climb up a stack of phone books to even get to obamas ear. Even then he will give out the same ol’ BS that his August 3 deadline, absolute drop dead, must be on that date, live or die deadline is not so firm after all. Its been bumped up 7-10 days.
Never believe anything these people say. They all lie. Its how they get by.
They are trying their best to blame this mess on Repubicans, but people are not buying it.
No Budget for the last two years and spending like lotto winners.
It has to stop. Democrats took 500 billion dollars from medicare, with Obamacare, now they are worrying about what’s left. I aint buying it.
If he gets a clean approval of bumping up the debt ceiling 2.4 trillion he will be very tough to beat.
Our guys will have approximately 3/4 to one billion to run on and they will have 241 billion!!
Who wins in a contest like that?
“I represent a huge state where huge numbers of people are dependent on us,” she said. “We always knew what was going on (with Presidents Bush and Clinton). None of that (information) is available to us now, and that’s not good. ... It doesn’t help you build a team.”
What happened to freedom? I guess everyone wants the people to rely on the government.
At this point the house would be negotiating with themselves.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and when the senate comes back with something then come back.
And shortly thereafter, Boehner stops the talks with Obama due to Obama's bad faith and petulance...
I was under the impression they voted it down along party lines. I thought there would at least be a record.
Do you recall Pelosi,
shutting off the lights, microphones, and recording equipment on the Republicans in the House one day in August?
Do you recall the Republicans stayed on all month long and debated the energy bill they had proposed?
Do you recall who actually had the opportunity to fill those democrat seats on the floor of the People’s House?
A record of the vote was posted yesterday...
2 dems. failed to vote along with McCain.
Do you have a link by any chance?
No I am afraid I don’t. I just recall seeing it. Party line vote, but 3 failed to vote at all. One of them being McCain.
I hear Palin moved to Arizona. If she doesn’t run for President perhaps she needs to run for the Senate from Arizona.
