U wonder WHY anyhody would be cop. What does a cop make now'days after all their training, degrees and experience? $29k?
What's the worth of low life scum-bag?
Definitely MORE than that for certain. WHY would anybody be a cop? It is MORE stupid than NOT to be an atheist.
Bastiat wasn’t an atheist; he wasn’t even agnostic. Perhaps he was stupid enough to be a cop? Yet I doubt you think him that dull.
I leave the obvious conflict for you to ponder; I cannot answer it for you.
according to salary.com, the average salary for a patrol officer in canton ohio is just under $50k/yr
not bad, considering it comes with a lifetime pension at the top of your pay grade for your career
as for this cop, he’s an idiot. if this was a bad guy, the cop and his partner would have been dead. they were lucky. instead of thanking his lucky stars, he informs the citizen that had he seen the gun, he would have shot him (brilliant... just what the public wants to know... there is now a high probability of getting killed if a moronic cop mistakes your cell for a gun)
i’m thinking the HR department needs to screen / test their people a bit more thoroughly

Cops in Dallas start at $42,890. plus very generous benefits. One needs two years of college or two years of military service to be hired.
A sergeant makes $81,966.00
That’s more money than the vast majority of the cops could make in the private sector. It’s also enough money that police departments don’t have to keep thugs on the payroll.

This thread’s full of stupid posts, and yours is a good example.
They want to be cops because they’re lazy, like to buy crap on the cheap from pawn shops and like the power. At least that describes the ones I worked with during my short LEO career. And several of them liked to beat people up.
Starting pay in Cleveland is $48k. Chicago starts at $43k and jumps to $61k the second year.
WHY would anybody be a cop?
To not really have to WORK for a living which includes very good benefits and retirement.

Boy are you behind the times. Most cops I know make over $60K.
That cop should be fired on the spot.
“To Protect and to Serve”???????????
Plus you get to walk around with a gun and a swagger. Do whatever you want, accuse people on the street of crimes with no evidence what so ever, and most importantly scream death threats at people because they are exercising basic constitutional rights. How do you put a price on that?
In San Jose, California, police sergeants are bringing down $250,000 in total compensation, and retiring in their 50s at a salary that is 90% of their highest earning year.
$29 K? Seriously?
My cousin’s husband is a cop in Nassau County, Long Island.
I recently heard that the average pay for a cop there is $150,000 per year. He’s been a cop for over 20 years, so his pay grade is probably higher. Then there’s all the benefits, free medical care, etc. To my knowledge, he has no college degrees of any kind.
Several years ago, 21 year old rookie cops in Las Vegas, with no college experience, were starting out at $50,000 per year. Overtime pushes that pay even higher.
The flip side of that coin is rural America. Here is Maine, cops start out at about $30,000 - $35,000 per year.
Why would anyone want to be in law enforcement? Above average pay, excellent health benefits, pensions that are gold plated compared to the private sector.... Those are just a few reasons that come to mind.
The fact you can get away with behavior that would land anyone else in prison.... Well, that is a fringe benefit.
$29k?Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.
Please, buy a clue.
