Instead of a Saturday vote on the House-passed cut, cap and balance bill, the Senate will vote on Friday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced. The measure is expected to be voted down on a mostly party-line vote.
The expected defeat of the bill will clear the way for Senate action on a compromise measure to raise the debt ceiling. Reid is ready to start floor action on a compromise plan worked out with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as soon as this weekend. Talks between House Republicans and the White House on a larger deficit reduction package are also continuing.
The bill, which passed Tuesday night 234-190 in the House, would eventually cap federal spending at 19.9 percent of GDP and requires Congress to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment before the debt limit can be raised.
Democrats have denounced the bill in colorful terms. Reid on Thursday called it one of the worst pieces of legislation U.S. history.
I think Trump is just craving some more attention, so I don't think anything will come of that, but if he does run as an indie, he'll seal the win for Obama... and he knows it.
Casey could crawl up a on park bench and sleep for the rest of his term and still get re-elected. The people in this state vote for him because of his daddy.
What you said. I don't trust Trump either.
Im a Yinzer from western PA and I agree that in 2006 most people thought they were voting for Daddy.
But the political atmosphere has changed much since. I believe a strong Tea-Party like candidate (eg Glen Meakem)could beat him. The problem is that no strong candidate has stepped forward
Nelson will vote nay, and Nelson will lose his Senate seat. There are no Democrats that have an ounce of loyalty to this country and certainly, none with any “Profile In Courage”!!! Every Democrat will vote nay, and....then lose their Senate seats just a the “Blue Dog” Democrats lost their seats voting for Obamacare!!!
All these clowns up for re-election in 2012 will have to go on record.
Fox news just said the bill is dead Harry is not going to waste the Senate’s time with
