The federal government is seeking the help of Canadians to capture 30 of the most sought-after war criminals who have been hiding in the Toronto area and may have moved elsewhere.
In an unprecedented move, the suspects, who are men from all over the world, were posted on a website of the Canada Border Services Agency.
Public Safety minister Vic Toews credited QMI Agency and Sun News Network for bringing the hunt for 50 suspected war criminals to his government's attention.
"These war criminals gained notoriety through Sun Media," Toews told reporters Thursday. "I then sat down with the CBSA and asked why can't we identify them."
Immigration minister Jason Kenney said all war criminals "will be rounded up and kicked out of Canada."
"Those who are involved in war crimes or crimes against humanity will find no haven on our shores," Kenney said.
CBSA president Luc Portelance said the fugitives are sought on warrants and are ready to be deported.
He said manpower will be added to hunt the suspects.
Anyone who witness the suspects are asked to call a Border Watch toll-free line at 1-888-502-9060.
