Everything is in decline in California...except public employee unions and illegal immigrants. But that doesn't factor in of course.

State schools have given over 33% salary increases to union teachers in the last 12 months.

California's higher education system is in decline, with fewer students able to afford college, falling college participation rates and dwindling state support, according to a study released Wednesday.

And, as usual, not a word is said about their decline having a large part to do with admitting unqualified students who require REMEDIAL MATH AND ENGLISH CLASSES. On what planet are students like that college material?

surprise surprise!

i took a finance class several years ago. the retirees and investors left within a session or two. i remained hoping to learn something.

then the instructor chewed me out for reading the wsj.

a mexican kid showed up from the year’s previous class, saying he admired the teacher but had gotten an f grade on the final. the teacher gave him a b grade for class participation.

the teacher bad-mouthed mccain and palin and promoted obama.

i dropped the class.

in terms of difficulty, i could have passed the class in junior high.

california public schools have passed on generations of kids that do not belong in college.

So these are the only measurements of success? Nowhere do they mention whether those who do graduate actually learn anything, whether the time and money spent is worth it, and how many graduates are prepared to be successful after graduation.

All that matters to this guy is how many are enrolled and stay there for as long as possible. This is no different from the public school system that only cares about how many warm bodies are in the classroom, because that determines how much money they receive from the state.

College has nothing to do with education any more.

When the people of a state decide to descend themselves irreversibly into economic, social and cultural hell, what else is to be expected?

California signed its own death warrant years ago.

The Socialists and Global Marxists have used California as a live test lab of what overt Communist policies will do to a state and the citizenry under such laws.

There is no border. Stop pretending there is. Every major city in CA is a sanctuary city and will not deport even criminal, gang-related felons.

Every aspect of life is affected by the influx of 3rd World, non-English speaking people here in the Golden State. The safety net that was designed for down-on-your-luck legal citizen is pilfered by people who use the laws to finance their lifestyle...which is middle class in their native country.

Schools, courts, jails, social services, clinics and hospitals are overwhelmed, Liberals and RINO’s will not impede as they represent votes in the future, or fraudulent votes, now.

Illegal immigration is one of the Cloward-Piven strategy planks, it Balkanizes the population, creates racial strife and provides a taxpayer-funded existence that is no longer sustainable.

A press to Communism is the goal.

No one faces the fact that California State Universities and Colleges are admitting less able students and thus must dumb down. In addition, they are hiring less able faculty. When I went to college The California University system was among the best ten schools in the nation. My chemistry teacher taught Noble Prize winner Glenn Seaborg.)

I wanted my daughter to go to UCLA but she let pointed out how it had declined. UCLA is now rated 25th in the nation. We bit the bullet and sent her to an “Ivy.&rdquo. We found she obtained a superior education and we are quite happy. She is now employed by a major publishing house.

To repeat California schools now face a dumb student enrollment surge. The schools must dumb down.

The once Golden State can't fix the pot holes in its roads.

Vagrants urinate on the public sidewalks.

The economy--once the envy of the world--is on the brink of bankrupcy.

The quality of the schools--once the world's finest--is in free-fall.

When visitors from Europe were asked if they liked San Francisco, they replied: "Hell no!"

California is rapidly descending into a Third World Hellhole. This is where Decadence will take you, and "Liberalism" IS Decadence.

Give it back to Mexico. If they'll take it.

Here is the solution to California’s problem.

1) Eliminate tenure. It is poor 100% socialism.

2) Make college admission harder. You have apes graduating who need remedial math/English when getting hired by Fortune 500 companies. A diploma just in not worth what it was 20 years ago.

3) Slash all admin positions. In the past 20 years, the number of college professors grew by 3 percent yet administrators grew by over 200%. Today in some colleges, there are more admin types than actual teachers.

This report was done to scare people into voting for more
money for the college system in california.

Don’t do it.
Get rid of excess admin¡strators, curriculums
(no more lacrosse, gender studies, film studies(who uses
film anyway anymore?. Get it, California voters?.Dont give out
high school diplomas to people who cannot pass their classes.
(RATIO of HS diplomas to college degrees will go down, but # of
college degrees will probably stay the same). Minimal state
aid, if you want to go to college ya’ gotta earn it somehow.
Lower wages/pensions across the board at all remaining colleges.
Includes administrators, professors, TA’s, custodial work,
secretaries, etc....

One reason is that they push diversity instead of academics.

This from the following article in the City Journal gives some reasons: “UC San Diego is adding diversity fat even as it snuffs out substantive academic programs. In March, the Academic Senate decided that the school would no longer offer a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering; it also eliminated a master’s program in comparative literature and courses in French, German, Spanish, and English literature. At the same time, the body mandated a new campus-wide diversity requirement for graduation.”

http://www.city-journal.org/2011/cjc0714hm.html

What is happening at UCSD is criminal.
