President Barack Obama called Democratic and Republican leaders back to the White House on Wednesday for bottom-line negotiations on how to prevent a disastrous government default - and cut staggering federal deficits as well.
The White House said for the first time that Mr Obama would accept a short-term extension of the debt limit, but only if a broader deal was already in place and required more time - perhaps a few days - to get through Congress.
The President had previously threatened to veto any stop-gap measure.

Here’s the ONLY ANSWER REPUBLICANS NEED TO GIVE:
WE PASSED THE ONLY REASONABLE BILL IN THE HOUSE ON TUESDAY - PASS THAT BILL OR YOU WILL BE BLAMED!
Enough of this bullsh*t already. This is what’s needed to be done. The 85 Republican freshmen in the house go en mass to the Boehner and tell him, “Mr. Speaker, here’s the deal. We didn’t create this mess, we got sent here to clean it up and we’re starting today. Tell the President that we’ll give him a 500 billion debt increase in return for 250 billion in non-defense cuts RIGHT THIS F*UCKING MINUTE. You need our votes to get anything through the house and we will withold them if you don’t do this. Have a nice day”
Both oil and unemployment are back up today.
The American People are about to tell Obama to get off of this phony debt ceiling issue and go back to worrying about that.
Nice!
Obie is betting on Gang of Six, who aren’t ready for the big show.
Have you got that old Saturday Evening Post painting by that great American artist Norman Rockwell of those dogs playin poker???
Thanks Ernest.
