Three days a week?
That would suit me just fine!
Those things screwed me outa so many quarters when I just needed one stamp! And,,,, I love dollar coins! Dollar bills are are virus and bacteria factories. They only last about 18 months before they’re shredded and sent to landfills. We’re spending tax dollars to print, and print, and print these things, when dollar coins will last 30 to 50 years. If they’d get more two dollar bills in circulation, you’d only need to carry one “Susie.” And, the metals can always be recycled, and are naturally anti virus and anti bacterial.
Ever wonder why your wallet sometimes smells like cheap perfume? It’s because the dollar bills have been de-loused and perfumed to cover their stink. I wash my hands after I use dollar bills. Filthy!
I live in a small town where we pick up our mail at the post office anyway. I go pick it up once a month....
As you say...once a month is fine for me...:o)
They need me before that email is and phone numbers are etc ...
Stay safe !
Not even remotely equivalent. The U.S. Post Office isn’t in trouble because we’re in decline, but because we’re so affluent. Electronic means of communication have reduced U.S mail to nothing but but ads, scams and receipts for bills that have already been paid electronically. Physical mail just isn’t used as much and it isn’t important as it used to be.
and the disability rolls will filled with workers comp claims of back injuries
for all my conservative friends that hate the USPS, it is the union not the service which is the problem, see Ronald Reagan for the solution - that said the Post Office is one of the few things in the constitution which is a requirment of the government. Delivery the mail defend the shores leave us alone...still good advice for our government.
Do yourself, ya damn squid! There is a large contingent of NALC letter carriers, who are very conservative...and vote conservative. We can’t control niether management, or union.
(I gotta tell ya JimRob, I’m ‘bout weary of FReeper...looks like the FReepathon agrees.)
Can you say privitize? The amazing disappearing Postal Service. Pretty soon, they will stop delivering mail totally, and stamps will cost $20 each. LOL
>Sure...right.... you Union sociopaths will have been replaced by Private firms long before this happens.
You mean like the Teamsters at UPS?<
I coincidentally had a light conversation with a UPS cronie a week ago. He was ‘my union..my union this..” I have never heard of a conversation where you said the word ‘UNION’ 10 times within 60 seconds.
And the funny part? He was headed to apply for free welfare housing in L.A.
I wouldn’t miss it at work. Almost all business correspondence comes by email or package delivery. Basically, the junk comes by snail mail.
LOL - Where do you get your information? Please supply a source (I reccomend you select carefully).
BTW - I don't believe you are in paradise.
The best statement - IMO - turn it over to the "nonunion" UPS!
You work for the gubmint?
Deficit, Yet Bonuses, at Post Office (July 19, 2001|From the Washington Post via LA Times)
The U.S. Postal Service is facing a $2-billion deficit this year, yet the postmaster general has told top managers they could see performance bonuses of up to 25% of their salaries."This year our productivity is up," Postmaster General John Potter said in a letter to 900 senior executives. "By pulling together, we can minimize our loss and earn additional pay for the performance achieved."
...The USPS was criticized earlier this year when it paid out $197 million in bonuses, or incentives as the Postal Service calls them, despite a $199-million deficit for last year. But this would be the first time the agency, a self-supporting government monopoly, would be granting bonuses in the face of such monumental deficits.
So if that was in 2001, and they did that crap for several years (as it was reported on at the time), I'd say that $200,000,000 in bonuses is a fair guess.
You have a better figure to claim "$20,000,000" or NO bonues?
I don't believe you really are 490.
Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe warned the U.S. Postal Service is going to have to make significant cutbacks that could mean no more Saturday service and eventually lead to mail delivery just three days a week.
I think they should have done this sometime in the past for residential service. They deliver six days a week now so cut it to MWF for some zips and TTS for the others and begin to let attrition take care of the extra employees, equipment, etc. A lot of commercial isn’t open for Saturday delivery or at least the office personnel isn’t on duty to process the incoming.
You dug up misleading 10 year old information from The Washington Post to try and support your claim. LOL - Not surprising at all. This is easy to refute, but honestly, you are just not worth my time or effort to educate. Believe whatever you want.
Put up or shut the ^&% up. YOU challenged the figure which was status quo for YEARS at the Post Office.
Post a counter figure with accounting or STFU.
And drop the name calling, it is unbecoming of a Freeper.
Stick with me here, now, I know it is difficult for you.
Just because the Washington Post printed an article using the word "Bonuses" doesn't mean that's a fair representation of what they were. Do some friggin comparative research on executive salaries for ANY private sector company 1/4th the size of the USPS. Be sure that you include those HUGE "bonuses" that you quantified by guessing. And oh, BTW, try to keep it w/in the last 4 or 5 years or so, hmm? The "bonus" system you are referring to has not even been around since the time of the 10 year old article you used.
Also, try to wrap your short mental arms around what happens to the bottom line when fuel costs skyrocket and, unlike UPS or FedEx, the USPS is restricted by law from increasing rates to adjust.
Rest assured, if you decide to purchase a clue online and have it shipped to you, the USPS rates will continue to be competitive. BTW -the USPS beats everyone's rates on smaller items, but for the larger boxes UPS is often less expensive, and you need to buy in quantity.
