The chairman of the Republican National Committee will travel to Washington state on Wednesday, declaring that he believes it will be a presidential battleground in 2012.
Reince Priebus said in an interview Tuesday that the RNC will commit significant financial resources to Washington as the election gets closer. He said that President Barack Obama will not be able to repeat his performance of four years ago, when he easily carried Washington by 17 percentage points on his way to the White House.
"Whether he won by 7, 17 or 27 (percentage points), I don't think he's going to win in 2012," Priebus said. "Washington is definitely going to be a battleground state."
Washington hasn't sided with a Republican for president since Ronald Reagan in 1984 and the state hasn't elected a Republican governor in three decades.

Besides... unless the GOP puts forward an EXCELLENT gubernatorial candidate AND an EXCELLENT Presidential candidate, we will have no reason to vote for them.
Priebus trying to return the Obama team’s fake to GA?
Unless there is a national tide such as was witnessed in 1980 and 1994, Washington is not in play for 2012.
He must think a RINO can win in WA state and as far a I’m concerned the RNC plan is to split conservative votes in the primaries so Romney can win the nomination.
Will he visit the east side? I doubt it. We’re hind tit on funding, and because the inland empire is known to be more conservative, they’d (Olympia) rather see us crumble.
Hearing Cain gush about Romney, I almost start to wonder if he’s in on it too.
The RNC abandoned us in the 2004 gubernatorial debacle. With adequate funding a more credible defense could have been mounted. The implications of that loss, and the dhimmicrat vote fraud that it represents, have reverberated far beyond our state boundaries.
F them...
I don’t want to cut on people too much, but some or all of these “conservative” candidates everyone is hooting about
are in the race for vote splitting to cause a Romney win.
Exactly the same as heavily populated Multnomah County in Oregon! If Republicans are ahead in a vote count, the computers break down. When they come back up, voila! The Democrats are leading by far! Happens every time.
To get a proper vote count, we should go back to precinct voting booths and away from computer counting. Until we do these things the Far Left is in control!
I agree. One and possibly two other candidates are in due to prompting for that purpose. One fairly successfully at this point.
But I too will overlook that, as I am now confident that all such candidates will do themselves in long before the Iowa caucuses.
The Republican Party abandoned me in when they struck down their contract with America. There hasn’t been a historically true Republican president since Ronald Reagan. We certainly did not have one as presidential candidate in the 2008 election either!
The Tea Party needs to gather Washington State into it’s family of supporters. Most of Washington is full of good old American Patriots.
The Democrat party is no longer Democrat, and the Republican Party is certainly no longer Republican. Representative government is a sham in the State of Washington!
Isn’t Kucinich moving out there to run for the House/
PING
That's it, brother (and I live in King County).
It’s not just King. Sno and Pierce are also lib strongholds. The only way a “republican” will win Washington these days is if he’s a RINO and a half.
Don't take him. If we have to have some Democrats in Ohio, I at least want them to be entertaining ones who are a pain to the Democrat establishment... especially since Traficant had his seat taken away in the last redistricting and then went to prison.
