Chrissy had an “S” eating grin the whole time Walsh was trying to speak. He does that when he's getting whupped by a guest. It doesn't happen very often.
I remember it happened when Zell Miller got him in the "spitballs" exchange a few years ago. While Miller is making a fool out of him, Matthews sits there with this big grin, sort of lightly chuckling from time to time, as if to say "oh, that's just Zell, he and I go way back, sometimes he forgets himself."
He doesn't want the guest to get an extended full-frame shot during an effective rant. His producer flashes his face up side-by-side so the can giggle and grin, which dilutes and reduces the impact of the guest until Matthews can interrupt him with some inanity, as he did with Walsh tonight.

Are you sure they are people? Real people can't listen to Matthews. Thy must be drones. They are relatives through marriage, and as far as I know, they all voted for obama. They refuse to watch Fox News, and they blame everything on Bush. I also have a life-long friend who supports obamacare, and we got into it. Since then, we haven't had our twice-yearly lunch.
