Did John the Baptist and Jesus disappoint you when they, on separate occasions, slammed the Pharisees as a “brood of vipers”?

Or perhaps you were miffed with Elijah stooping to taunting the prophets of Baal?

What I think you miss, here, is the distinction between slinging mud, and speaking the straight-up truth in piercing terms.
