Today on the 2:00 pm segment of CNN Newsroom, anchor Randi Kaye spoke with CNN political producer Shannon Travis about criticism directed at President Barack Obama:
TRAVIS: Yes, really, really quickly, billionaire Steve Wynn, you've seen his resorts all over Las Vegas. He's blasting President Obama. I'm going to read this quote from a call, an earnings call yesterday. Quote, "I'm saying it bluntly that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business and progress and job creation in my lifetime". Those are from Steve Wynn.
We know there are a lot of businesses who have been on a hiring streak, Randi, but this is what Steve Wynn, billionaire real estate mogul in Las Vegas thinks about the Obama administration.
What hiring streak is Travis talking about? CNN Money.com reported last week that initial unemployment claims remained above the 400,000 mark for the 14th straight week. The Bureau of Labor Statistics noted in its June, 2011 report that there are now 14.1 million Americans out of work. The same agency pegged that number at 11.6 for January, 2009, the month Barack Obama took office.

panhandlers
Come on there are zillions of shovel ready jobs, but we have a shortage of shovels!
I have a relative who is commercial real estate appraiser in the Tampa Bay area. He says business has never been better because of the massive amount of foreclosures needing appraisals.
Engineers in Silicon Valley. Many companies are rewarding employees $10k for every new employee they bring on board. Most companies here simply cannot find the technical talent they need. Google earnings are high and they are adding like crazy. Ditto for Facebook and LinkedIn. They are sucking up all the talent and the shortages are spilling over to every other company in the valley.

CNN must have confused the line at the unemployment office with the TSA checkpoint at the airport. ;)
And that’s just the beginning...there’s been talk this week of another 4400 billion in defense cuts, on top of the $400 billion already planned. Meanwhile Bawnee Fwank and his buddies in Congress are pushing for $1 trillion.
Sadly, I’d put the final nnumber closer to Frank’s target. Obama will gut defense to the bone to preserve his beloved domestic spending, and some of the proposals are frightening when you consider their impact on defense spending.
Here are some of the proposals making the rounds: How about removing the Navy and Marine Corps from the JSF program, so only the Air Force winds up with the F-35. Sure, those Marine Harriers can soldier on for another 30 years.
Or how about moth-balling 3-4 Navy carriers, along with a comparable number of support vessels. By the end of this decade, China’s Navy won’t be far behind us in the number of operational carriers.
The coming defense cuts will make the “Hollow Force” of the 1970s look like a defense build-up.
Businesses are shedding their IT employees and hiring it out to us.
We're hiring lightly...but way below customer demand. Engineers are regularly logging 50hrs/week.
Companies don't want employees anymore. They cost too much.
Blame Obama.
