I don’t have the numbers handy, but I believe that accidental firearm deaths are declining and have been for a decade or more. This is the face of sharply ~higher~ rates of firearm ownership. It speaks volumes about the success of firearms training and awareness programs on the part of the NRA and other groups.
What he probably included was unintended deaths from drive-by shootings, classifying them as ‘accidental’. Although accidental in a certain sense, they’re probably not what most people would consider, and are misleading.
Even then it’s only 30 per state over an entire year. A very small minority of both population and gun owners.

IF you include homicide and suicide then that probably is the right number. Also the number is about 75 for those under the age of 15, with about half of those being 10 and older (should know better)
