Bachmann Ahead in Another Presidential Poll (Now ahead of pack of GOP contenders including Romney)
Dakota Voice ^ | 07/19/2011 | Bob Ellis

Another poll, this one from Public Policy Polling, finds Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) leading the pack of GOP presidential contenders.

Michele Bachmann’s momentum continues to build and she’s taken first place by the smallest of margins on PPP’s newest national Presidential poll. 21% of Republican primary voters say she’s their top choice to 20% for Mitt Romney, 12% for Rick Perry, 11% for Herman Cain, 9% for Ron Paul, 7% for Newt Gingrich, 5% for Tim Pawlenty, and 3% for Jon Huntsman.

Bachmann’s rise has been fueled by her appeal to voters on the far right- and their skepticism about Romney. Romney has the lead with centrist Republicans (23-17) and with those defining themselves as only somewhat right of center (24-17). But among ‘very conservative’ voters only 48% have a positive opinion of Romney to 34% who view him negatively, weak numbers, and Bachmann’s capitalizing on that with a 26-15 lead over Romney, who’s in third place with that group of voters.

Zogby’s latest poll a couple of weeks ago had Bachmann way out in front with a double-digit lead over her nearest competitor.

This poll finds that if another conservative candidate like Sarah Palin or Rick Perry got into the race, that could divide Bachmann’s supporters…and vault RINO Mitt “RomneyCare” Romney to the front.

The “mainstream” media and other liberals–including many within the Republican Party–know this and are not only doing everything they can to smear her publicly, they are trying to fan the flames of competition and strife from her own party. Someone even a little less conservative than Bachmann is preferable to them, but they especially like to hedge their bets with liberal candidates from the Right.

That is my greatest concern with the possibility of Palin or Perry getting into the race: dividing the Republican vote and leaving RINOs to select liberal Romney as the GOP nominee.

That would guarantee another four years of Barack Obama in the White House, because a great deal of principled Republicans will not vote for Democrat-lite and we’ll have another 2008 on our hands. And with the country in the current dire fiscal and economic shape, I don’t know if America can survive another four years of Barack Obama.

It seems the more she supposedly puts her foot in her mouth and the more the MSM attacks her, the more popular she gets. Could it be that on issues such as homosexuality, most agree with her?

Yes she can win!

They had better hurry up and get out there and trash her for all it's worth before she actually gets the nomination and gets elected.

It's truly amazing how fast a person can all of the sudden turn into an incapable yet demonic human being just by running for POTUS.

I haven’t seen any news that she was hospitalized today. And the media would definitely be all over that.

I highly doubt an unsubstantiated rumor from unnamed sources about ‘headaches’ that have caused her to miss exactly one scheduled event for the benefit of Roy Blunt will derail her entire run.

The fact is that rampant stupidity, proved racism, and outright unAmerica statements didn't derail the Obozo, so I think Bachmann will live through ‘headachegate’.

Does the twitter feed you are pushing on your tag jump directly to Chris Matthews and PMSLSD or will I have an opportunity to click on something at the Twitter site? I ask because that sack of crap you keep peddling on all the Bachmann threads about this dude being a swish is something I expect them to be pushing.

Some proof would be nice on this. At least a Larry Sinclair type coming forward. Better yet, I think it your duty to the country to start hitting Bath Houses and Gay Bars up there for some proof. Something tells me you will know how to fit in to avoid detection...undercover like.

You are right. That was a “ rumor” started no doubt by a dem

I hope this doesn’t spread.
even when it is later proved to be untrue the damage will have been done
Darn she is the only real conservative running. we need her

“but they especially like to hedge their bets with liberal candidates from the Right.”

What?

The whole article is based on the metrics of calling anyone more “conservative” than Mao “Far Right”, and pretending that Socialists are mainstream middle of the roaders.

We cannot allow Alinsky to redefine conservative and tea party principles and equate them with Neo Nazism and the truly “Far Right”.

Liberal and “from the right” are antithetic.

This poll was already debunked on another thread. When both Perry and Palin were included, Romney was in front (and Palin was ahead of Perry). But then they took Palin out and kept Perry in in order to get the ‘Bachmann leads’ result.

Further, if you read the actual poll, you see that Bachmann and, to a lesser degree, the other early-alphabet candidates (Cain, Gringrich and Huntsman) benefited by listing in alphabetical order, rather than rotated listings, which is good polling policy.

Also, this was an attempted hit poll on Palin and plumping up poll for Bachmann, with the positive question of who they’d vote for if it came down to Romney and Bachmann asked, along with negative questions about Palin, such as whether they thought she hurt the GOP image (respondents at the start of the poll had actually given Palin the highest positive rating out of any of the candidates) and whether they wanted her to run. (What a shock, a fair percentage of those backing other candidates didn’t want Palin in the race!)

I agree. I think this will be an issue. Incapacitating headaches, meds, etc. Not a real issue mind you, but the media will make it one. Wait for all the “medical experts” to say how unfit she is.

Like how McCain was unfit because he had skin cancer. (McCain was unfit because he was a RINO, not for health reasons).

Since she’s in the race right now and has a conservative image-reputation, she should be in the lead.

Who wants Romney, nobody.

That’s why the RINO High Command will have to split conservative votes as many ways as possible to allow Romney to win.

I fear Dems in open primary states will turn out for him bigtime as a reverse Op Chaos.

Bachmann is the candidate the Dems want to run against.

If memory serves, so was Reagan. And I remember how happy everyone here was when Obama beat Hillary, and even happier when he nominated the gaffe master as his running mate.

I think it's best that we're finding out about her now, long before the primaries. If she holds up, then we may have our candidate. If not, then we have plenty of time to throw our support behind another.

Of course she can release her entire medical history, or do so only after she calls for Obama to do so. All of it including any treatment for Anal Warts and other predominantly Homosexual VD cases. Whether he can pass a blood test for nicotine.

Headaches are nothing but a primitive form of birth control.

Now, migraine headaches are another matter. My wife had them for many years....Unfortunately, she decided I was the cause....JUST KIDDING

Neither Ron Paul nor Gingerich will ever win a national election. Why would people waste their time and money?
