Another poll, this one from Public Policy Polling, finds Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) leading the pack of GOP presidential contenders.
Michele Bachmanns momentum continues to build and shes taken first place by the smallest of margins on PPPs newest national Presidential poll. 21% of Republican primary voters say shes their top choice to 20% for Mitt Romney, 12% for Rick Perry, 11% for Herman Cain, 9% for Ron Paul, 7% for Newt Gingrich, 5% for Tim Pawlenty, and 3% for Jon Huntsman.
Bachmanns rise has been fueled by her appeal to voters on the far right- and their skepticism about Romney. Romney has the lead with centrist Republicans (23-17) and with those defining themselves as only somewhat right of center (24-17). But among very conservative voters only 48% have a positive opinion of Romney to 34% who view him negatively, weak numbers, and Bachmanns capitalizing on that with a 26-15 lead over Romney, whos in third place with that group of voters.
Zogbys latest poll a couple of weeks ago had Bachmann way out in front with a double-digit lead over her nearest competitor.
This poll finds that if another conservative candidate like Sarah Palin or Rick Perry got into the race, that could divide Bachmanns supporters and vault RINO Mitt RomneyCare Romney to the front.
The mainstream media and other liberalsincluding many within the Republican Partyknow this and are not only doing everything they can to smear her publicly, they are trying to fan the flames of competition and strife from her own party. Someone even a little less conservative than Bachmann is preferable to them, but they especially like to hedge their bets with liberal candidates from the Right.
That is my greatest concern with the possibility of Palin or Perry getting into the race: dividing the Republican vote and leaving RINOs to select liberal Romney as the GOP nominee.
That would guarantee another four years of Barack Obama in the White House, because a great deal of principled Republicans will not vote for Democrat-lite and well have another 2008 on our hands. And with the country in the current dire fiscal and economic shape, I dont know if America can survive another four years of Barack Obama.
Another sign that she is leading -— She scares the s**t out of the left.
See here for another one of the many hit pieces (they want to make her sound like Harold Camping) :

Bachmann Predicted The World Would End In 2006: We Are In The Last Days
Sadly I think the news she suffers from migraines will sink her.
But she’s gone to the doctor for migraines. How can I vote for someone whose head might explode in the Oval Office? < /sarc>
Mitt and Rudy led the summer before the vote in 08 ....ask them how that turned out. Right now the Smear Bachmann machine is well under way and it will work just like it worked on Palin. Bachmann will not be the nominee.
What this poll also shows is there is room for other TEA party candidates to enter the race.
She’ll do well in the midwest and I think that is especially important in the next election. Look at all the states that flipped here in last year’s election.
Sarah Palin has also shown that she understands the importance of the midwest.
I guess Mittens beachead is New Hampshire?
“Sadly I think the news she suffers from migraines will sink her.”
Yes, especially if she’s out of commission for days at a time. Like Newt, I’m afraid she’s no longer a viable candidate.
Will you be there with him?
Bachman leading this early is evidence that their really isn’t a clear leader in the field that is not yet vetted. No way that many likely voters in the Republican primary have much knowledge of Bachman in the length of four weeks or so.
Let’s hope her positions are magnetic. On the other hand, Bob McDonald said today that he’d support a Republican governor but hadn’t yet decided which one.
One would think if she really is out of commission for days at a time as the article states this news would have come out before now
Truthfully if it is true as much as I like her views I would not want her as our candidate
this might help Palin, or Perry decide to get in
Bachmann is the candidate the Dems want to run against. It would be a grave mistake to nominate her, IMO. I’m hoping Rick Perry enters the race.
HA HA HA- Funny...
Well, this explains the latest smear on Bachmann that she can’t be President because she has headaches.
It hasn’t come up during the last few years she’s been under steady attack.
heh heh heh...perfect.
Nobody tries harder to “out” suspected homosexuals than homosexuals themselves.
