There are many Republicans whose top priority is maintaining the status quo, not fixing the nation’s problems.

They have a lot of $$$$$ and career time invested in business as usual, and they are not about to give it all up without a fight.

Many of them have in fact become rich doing what they know how to do. For us the problem is that haven’t a clue about the situation in which we now find ourselves. I am thinking about Rove right now, but there are many like him. For instance the minority leader of the Senate.
