Americans are unimpressed with their political leaders' handling of the debt ceiling crisis, with a new CBS News poll showing a majority disapprove of all the involved parties' conduct, but Republicans in Congress fare the worst, with just 21 percent backing their resistance to raising taxes.

President Obama earned the most generous approval ratings for his handling of the weeks-old negotiations, but still more people said they disapproved (48 percent) than approved (43 percent) of what he has done and said.

What Do You Think? Will lawmakers forge a debt deal by Aug. 2?

CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante reports there was no visible progress over the weekend, despite warnings from debt rating agencies that the nation's credit rating could drop, even if there is a deal, if government spending isn't cut.

Pure propoganda. You know, looking at the internals of this poll, I'm beginning to wonder if SeeBS isn't in the tank for Obama . . . can that be true?

Total Republicans 214 193 (24%) Total Democrats 272 282 (35%) Total Independents 324 335 (41%)

Maybe the “Bradley effect” is at work here too—people telling the pollster they approve of Obama when they don’t because they don’t want the pollster to think they are racist.

I wonder what this 71% will say when this country defaults, in the coming decade. This country will default, it’s now just a matter of when.

The current DC bunch are not capable of making serious cuts. Without serious cuts, default is an ABSOLUTE!

OK. Like last November was about electing tax-raising rats.
Ha ha, next.

U.S. Debt Ceiling Increase Remains Unpopular With Americans

More are concerned about higher level of spending than risk of economic crisis

by Lydia Saad

PRINCETON, NJ — Despite agreement among leaders of both sides of the political aisle in Washington that raising the U.S. debt ceiling is necessary, more Americans want their member of Congress to vote against such a bill than for it, 42% vs. 22%, while one-third are unsure. This 20-percentage-point edge in opposition to raising the debt ceiling in Gallup’s July 7-10 poll is slightly less than the 28-point lead (47% vs. 19%) seen in May.

Most would probably feel more comfortable telling the truth to Scott Rasmussen's computer than to a live pollster with an African-American accent.

These fascist democrats are really, really, worried or they wouldn't be pumping this crap out by the gallon rather than just focusing on the fearless leader and what a great way he has with people. They don't care a bit what public opinion is until they're behind the eight ball at which time they try to get peer pressure working to keep people from writing their House and Senators and Representatives in the House because it's already a lost cause. They're good at it, too. Nine times out of ten they get a significant number of people to give up before the battle is half over.

If they were really ahead in the honest polls, they'd already be talking about how well Barry has done.

Survey this:
Does it bother you that the democrats have not offered up a budget in over 800 days, thus breaking the law?
Does it bother you that the POTUS and democrats want to be declared ‘winners’ in the game without even suiting up or showing any sign of intending to play the game?
Republicans are to just forfeit the ‘football’ game because the other team wants the win? This is a lot more important than a football game - the future of this country is at stake. (At least financially speaking.)

That is the most overrated excuse ever affecting at most 5% of people if that.

Good analysis of all the flaws with this poll (massive oversampling of Democrats, etc.):

And yet Brett Hume was just on Fox using this pole to say the Republicans will get the blame if Obama shuts down the govt. with a veto of their budget.

That CBS poll is pure CRAP!

Leave it to the MSM to prop up Obama/liberals when they get behind in an argument, count on it!
