Isolating some minutia of the Lutheran faith and pretending that it has some significance that it doesn't not only fosters a division in the conservative Christian community where there should be none, but also gives the radical humanists a free pass.

In practice, you will find very little difference between the Roman Catholic Church and the Wisconsin Evangelical Synod of the Lutheran Church. Orthodox Lutherans didn't think much of Pope Leo and he didn't think much of Martin Luther. If that disagreement is more significant to you than than problems such as the murder of unborn children (the WELS is vehemently pro-life) or the normalization of sodomy (the WELS is strongly pro-family) so be it.
