The news and blogosphere is filled with responses to the July 14, 2011 story by Joshua Green, the Senior Editor of the Atlantic, entitled "Michele Bachmann's Church Says the Pope Is the Antichrist." That is because it raises a serious matter which should not be taken lightly, and one which the candidate must address. First, let me share some personal context. I am what is often called a "revert" to the Catholic Church, someone who returned to the Church of my childhood after a long search for the truth. I love being a Catholic Christian. I hold an undergraduate degree and a master's degree in Catholic theology. I am a dissertation away from obtaining a PhD in Catholic Moral Theology. I am also a member of the Clergy, a Deacon. However, I write this article as a private and very concerned citizen.

I cannot comment, I am biased.
My ancestors were tortured and killed by Catholics.
I forgot to ping this to you. As said in a previous post, Michele Bachman may have her own Jeremiah Wright problem.
“hated AMERICA!”
I mean “hates AMERICA!”
Recently?
I'm cool with it, so don't bother keeping a spot warm for me. :)
It would be because of their bigotry that Catholics
And MY ancestors were tortured and killed my Protestants...Funny thing about that.
I hate all Catholics because they say I’m going to hell because I am not Catholic. Of course this is not true but the Catholic teaching has been that all non-Catholics are going to hell.
Mine were tortured and killed by the Protestant Cromwell.
Since they were a loquacious people, I will comment vociferously.
“Yes, but she stopped attending two years ago.”
So what? It has been the official teaching of the WEL Synod for decades and it was mentioned during Bachmann’s 2006 campaign. She well knew about this issue years ago and resigned only when she was plotting a Presidential bid.
It is really admirable how quickly she threw her Church under the bus when she needed to make political hay.
All the running down of Bachmann will not work. The Liberal scum have blown their wad on O’bummer. Their lies are there for everyone to see. All we have to do is have a candidate that is fearless in exposing their lies. Palin, Bachmann and Cain have guts. The fact that they are Conservative women, and a black Conservative make them gutsy in and of itself. The way they take it to O’Bummer brings it all the way home. I would gladly vote for any one of them over the RINOS.
Both/and. I don’t even know if there is a WELS in Washington, DC.
I am not supporting Bachmann for Pres..... This is not a debate, it is a cheap shot by some to continually stir the water. This must stop. It is stupid.
Prior to Vatican II, i.e. when JFK was running for President, Protestants could not go to heaven by Roman Catholic doctrine. Why are you guys trying to pillory her on this at this late date?
I know she's far from perfect, but she's better than Romney and Palin seemingly isn't running and Cain has too little name-recognition.
What can we do? Anyone would be better than Obama.
I do not believe any of the Kennedys are Christians... I do not believe the IRA are Christians... I do not believe the Jesuit governor of California, Jerry Brown, is a Christian...
I also do not believe that the tortures, wars and assassination attempts made against non-Catholics by members of the Catholic Church during medieval times and the Renaissance were Christian brotherly love...
Im Roman Catholic as is my whole family and we adore Michele Bachmann and have no problem supporting her at all.” <<<
I think that’s fine, but the point made is that she (Bachman) doesn’t support you. She raises her Synod for twenty years over your Shepherd who is the anti-Christ, so what does that make you? But, whatever. Right? I’d like to know how you justify supporting Bachman over Santorum, since he is every bit as conservative as she and devout in his faith despite the costs. Now that’s something worth “adoring”.
This story ran many times a few days ago and the only reason to bring it up again is to cause trouble. Shame on Brice.
Don’t know where you came up with that one, but I know it’s a prominent belief among nonCatholics.
