It seems to me that military equipment would have little nickel in it. Stainless steel has much larger amounts of nickle in it but taking the nickle out of stainless steel would seem quite difficult. I am going to wait and see.

Nope. It's called "chemistry" and is no more difficult than getting the nickel INTO the stainless steel in the first place (actually much less so).
