Democratic Governor: GOP Wants to Hurt Economy to Win in 2012
FOXNEWS ^ | July 16, 2011 | Associated Press

Posted on 07/17/2011 5:01:28 AM PDT by Son House

But the charge from Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is evidence of the political nervousness among Democratic governors looking ahead to 2012 after their ranks were thinned in the last election.

It also hints at the tenuous control the president has over jobs and the economy, the issues certain to dominate the elections.

"I think that there is an extreme wing within their party who have as their primary goal not the jobs recovery, but the defeat of President Obama in 2012," O'Malley said in an interview. "They know that their formulations, their policies of less revenues and less regulation badly failed our country and plunged us into this recession. So their only way of evening the playing field is to keep the president from being successful in the jobs recovery."

He contended that key Republican members of Congress, "through their intransigence, cleverly set up a situation for America's economy to fail, either by needlessly driving us to default, or needlessly driving us into massive public sector layoffs."

"I think that they are disgracefully cynical," said O'Malley, who has a prominent profile as head of the Democratic governors' group.

O'Malley, who some believe has national aspirations for 2016, acknowledged that it's rare for one elected official to accuse others of trying to hurt Americans for political gain.

O'Malley spoke openly about something that has troubled top Democrats for months. With unemployment at 9.2 percent, a further decline in the economy could make it difficult for any prcontemplated challenging Obama. "Campaigns are supposed to be about an incumbent's record."

Gov. Terry Branstad, R-Iowa, defended the Republican debt negotiators, especially Cantor. Obama carried Iowa easily in 2008, after winning the Democratic caucus.

"We launched him," Branstad said of Obama, "but we can sink him."

Fixing Socialism is a never ending job. With no possible chance of success.

This has continued to happen in other circumstances. NY’s cigarette taxes created a great new business opportunity for the mafia. Maryland’s “millionaire tax” caused millionaires to move away. In each situation, the government in question ended up either not making as much money as projected, or lost money. When you tax an activity, it either decreases, goes away, or goes underground. It’s happened all through history, and in the end, it’s the wage earner that takes the hit. He or she is the one who pays higher costs, or no longer has a job, but the elites can sit in the unreality bubble, secure in their belief that they’ve stuck it to the rich.

Democrats idea of taxing their way to recovery.

Notice the real economy killers refuse to use the word, “taxation”.

I have often observed that Democrats usually accuse others of what they are doing or have done themselves.

Thank God all of our Social Security money is safely held in a lock box.

It's secure and will be there when we need it.

Politicians cannot touch it and spend the money on worthless boondoggle projects like it was their "mad money."

Can they?

If it is true, that not raising the debt ceiling will hurt Obama’s reelection, then it must be noted that it won't succeed if the RINOs cave.

0bama served in the previous Demonrat Congress prior to taking on the presidency with a full dominated Demonrat Congress where he got whatever he wanted. He passed his ‘stimulus’ which he claimed would fix everything and keep unemployment beneath 8%. His words and those actions will be used against him as he has shown he is incompetent in all regards. The Demonrats continue to control the Senate with their incompetence. From the looks of their ‘stimulus’ we are fortunate that we are being shielded from another attack with this joke Resident’s inept policies. He has shown what a disaster he is.

Face it, they’re evil. They and we know they’re evil and they rely on media to continue to keep the public ignorant to the facts.

To paraphrase Ann Coulter, if you want to know what liberals are up to, just listen to what they’re accusing you of. Thus we have a President who behaves like a spoiled 10 year-old telling Republicans to ‘eat their peas’. I can only hope that more people recognize this.

If they don’t like Cantor, they’re welcome to IGNORE HIM. No different from us having to ignore Schumer.

It was always my belief that Communism is nothing more than a criminal enterprise that uses collectivism and the concept of the egalitarian paradise as a front for their criminal activities.

Nailed it.

Obviously they want to detract from the waste and the raiding of social security, whose only scheme was: “we are borrowing money, withholding your wages, not because you are a slave, but for your own good, but now we do not have to pay you because we are the government, and if you do not have us, the economy will tank”

Yeah, right.

This is the way the Democrates spin: “you are slaves of the government and need us to cheer it on”

AND I SAY BULL!!!!

Indeed, America better wake the F up about the scam that is being pulled on them - and the F word is just there because it is now part and will be part of their daily selves and environment, not because I like to use it.

I’m just wondering why we don’t hear any republicans countering the argument about revenues with lowering taxes.

As long as the public is convinced that we have to increase
taxes to raise more revenue instead of the opposite which is
a proven strategy (Reagan), we will keep losing this PR fight.

The following article offers some frightening evidence that the goal of Barack Obama and his friends has always been to overwhelm the American economy so that it can be replaced with socialism or worse..Go to this Snope’s site and read..
