Michele Bachmann Leaves Church Accused of Anti-Catholic Bias
By James Oliphant July 15, 2011 Taking a page from President Obamas political playbook, Michele Bachmann has formally left a church in Minnesota accused of holding anti-Catholic views.
According to CNN, the church that Michele Bachmann and her husband Marcus had attended for more than a decade, Salem Lutheran in Stillwater, Minn., granted the couples request to be released from their membership last month, a week after Bachmann told a national audience that she would run for the Republican presidential nomination.
The Bachmanns had approached their pastor and verbally made the request a few weeks before the church council granted the request, said Joel Hochmuth, a spokesman for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, the governing body for the church

She probably left because she didn’t want her church to be attacked by the pathetic MSM and Left. I suppose they would attack it either way but it just shows how desperate they are (or how much they fear her). Doesn’t Rush always say the reason the Left goes after Palin so much is because they fear her?
Duh. Cant imagine a LUTHERAN church that has problems with the CATHOLIC church. /s/
LOL Good one!
Archbishop Dolan once mentioned our selfish use of oil in a blog post on his website. He's pro amnesty and government healthcare.
BTW, I am a Catholic in the NY Archdiocese.
Well, the name Protestant would assume they are protesting something, and Lutherans in particular could be assumed to be "anti" Catholic. Luther split from the Catholic Church after all.
I wonder if her Lutheran Pastor ever screamed, "Hillary ain't never been called a mackerel snapper lite!"
Sad that this is a story at all. And I'm a Catholic.
I have heard good things about him, but I defer to greater experience.
That’s a disappointment.
Boy, she’s becoming Pander Woman! I used to kind of like her, but she’s looking more and more like a distaff Huckleberry, I mean, Huckabee.
No argument there, but I do think it’s possible for a faithful protestant to believe that he has Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. A church should exist for what it believes, not in opposition to those who it rejects.
If it were indeed true that past popes were the antichrist, would not the world have already perished? Ergo, while many of the popes were sinful men, they were not and have never been the anti Christ.
As for the rest of it, I’ve got no problem with anyone who accepts these premisses, I think they are bedrock Protestant principles.
However, I would also argue that scripture never says that the church universal is the body of Christ. It instead says that Christ gave the keys to the kingdom of heaven to Peter.
Obligatory Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Joke:
A man of faith dies without claiming allegience to any one “church”. So, St. Anthony is showing the various rooms in Heaven where he may spend eternity.
The first on is full of people drinking and playing bingo. The man says “This looks like fun. Who are they?” St. Anthony responds, “This is the Catholic room.”
The next room is full of people singing and dancing to some fantastic music. The man says, “This looks like fun. Who are they?” St Anthony responds, “This is the Black Baptist room.”
The next room is full of people sitting at long tables, looking out the corner of their eyes and whispering about their neighbors. The man says, “Who are these people who arent having any fun.” St Anthony responds, “These are the Wisconsin Synod Lutherans and they think they are the only ones up here.”
Some serious misunderstandings about the Lutheran faith here. Luther had a falling-out with the Vatican, but still considered himself catholic.
I’ve been reciting the phrase “I believe in the Holy Catholic church” since childhood.
I also believe the author is a left-wing libtard looking to use this as a splinter issue. I’d suppose he hates Catholics and Lutherans about equally.
Bachmann is thrashing.
She has no direction, but the way the wind blows.
A good candidate acts, but does not react. Palin is the best example in decades.
>> “ I wonder who it will be?” <<
.
Antichrist’s right hand man.
>> Bachmann: “I love Catholics’ money” <<
.
And votes!
>> “Its no different than saying you can love Christ but dont buy into the Church He established though St. Peter and his apostles” <<
.
There is no such church.
Read John ch 6; the Father populates his church by calling individuals to his son.
I agree the the author is a left-wing libtard looking to use this as a splinter issue. And, along with Catholics and Lutherans probably hates conservatives, Republicans, knuckle dragging hicks, Bible thumping rednecks, and gun huggers just as much.
I wonder what anti-Bachmann issue will be the subject of the MSM's attention next week?
I suggest joining Father Pfleger's Church.
>> “So why did this Oliphant guy think any of this was peculiar?” <<
.
Oliphant is considered to be somewhat of a hot mouth.
