Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Friday strongly suggested that members of Congress are making it difficult for President Obama to raise the debt ceiling because of his race.
"I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness [toward] this president,” said Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “Why is he different? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?”
Earlier in her speech, Jackson Lee said Obama has been targeted unlike any other president.
"I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one," said Jackson Lee from the House floor.
"Read between the lines," she continued. "What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?"
Jackson Lee concluded by saying that she hoped someone would step up and say that what appears obvious to her is not in fact true.
"I hope someone will say that what it appears to be is not in fact accurate," said Lee. "But historically it seems to be nothing more."

Do you know many black people? I live near to, and work with many. All of them are proud of Obama as a matter of race. I have no problem with that. However, I certainly didn't support McCain because he was white or vote for him becuase Obama was black. As a military retiree, I thought it was like, you know, when Navy people were proud of McCain because he was a sailor. But it it much worse than that. Now Obama, for many of thse people, represents their very essence. I cannot logically compete with essence. If I am not for Obama, I am against their essence.
However, now they are also very defensive. Any criticism must be done in hushed whispers because you will be accused of being a racist if you criticize him. You will get “invited” to diversity training by Human Resources. It's already happend to my boss who is more vocal about how the democrats have screwed this country. He MUST go to diversity training. No reason given why.

The Obummer regime has had at least one salutary effect: bringing to the attention of even Ophrah/soap opera/24-7 sports fans the unwillingness of so many blacks to even consider getting past race. The openly racial animosity toward whites of so many of them have been on display to the point that every one, except perhaps university professors, now knows where the problem of racism lives: in “her community”.
If that isn't a perfect example of a gerrymandered district I don't know what is!
George W Bush gave it a shot when he spoke to the NAACP on July 10, 2000. For five years in a row, Bush declined invitations to address the NAACP convention, citing nasty things they said about him. He spoke to them again in 2006. I remember him asking the audience if the black communityh was well served by being represented by just one political party. “ <<<
Yes, I remember that. The NAALCP is not what I had in mind because as you say they are agenda hardened and have been mean for decades. But the democrats keeping them on the plantation is a message that should resonate and the public schools are a democrat/socialist bastion no one is talking about, ever. We sit wondering what happened. They took our kids and now they’re voting the way they were taught.
Opening salvo by the Obama 2012 campaign. Obama must rally his minority base. He will be pulling the race, ethnic, and class cards right up until election day. This will be the dirtiest, most vile, and divisive elections in American history. If Obama loses, there could be riots in streets of our major cities or at least that is what the Obama campaign will lead you to believe.
Last I heard, Obama is half WHITE. You only get to play half a race card SJL.

Michael Berry was filling in for Mark Levin. Michael is from Houston and says that Sheila Jackson Lee is, essentially, a funeral groupie. She makes her staff give her a list of upcoming funerals when she’s in Texas so she can crash them, feign sympathy for the family and use the microphone to pimp her pet projects to her constituents.
