I’ve been hearing whispers that Michele Bachmann’s husband, Marcus, is gay for a while. It’s now exploding into a full-on meme.
Given my early bedtime, I’m always at least a day late on “Daily Show” bits. Last night, I saw this episode from Wednesday:

Now, I admit, Marcus Bachmann is pudgy and has a less-than-baritone voice. But, last I checked, those aren’t the distinguishing characteristics of homosexuality.
Apparently, gay activist Dan Savage has started pushing the meme hard, too. And Slate’s June Thomas is calling him out:
Dan Savage begins each of his “Savage Love Cast” podcasts with a rip-roaring rant—a sword of invective aimed at homophobic school boards that won’t let lesbians attend their high-school prom, hypocritical politicians, and generally despicable people. It’s a rousing start to 45 minutes of sex advice, and it’s usually right on and empowering.
This week, though, the podcast started with an attack on Marcus Bachmann’s masculinity.After a short preamble about the accuracy of gaydar (with a scientific citation, no less), Savage—whom I respect tremendously—played a tape of Michele’s* husband’s speaking voice. Bachmann has a tiny bit of a lisp—though it’s barely perceptible—and he slurs his words slightly. To Savage’s ears, it was a gay accent. Savage played the tape over and over, and reprised it several times throughout the podcast. He even did his own Bachmann impression, exaggerating the lisp and camping it up.

Umm ... actually, no. It isn't.
RE: They will believe that Marcus, and by extension, Michelle are ridiculous jokes.
Maybe you can explain to us :
1) Who “they” are ( and please don’t include the Lawrence O’ Donnel’s of this world because to him, all conservatives are jokes ).
2) What exactly it is about them that are ridiculous jokes.
Don Shula has this lisp, and he is definitely straight.
They’ll try. But it depends on what they find, what they have to work with.
Marcus Bachmann is hilarious.
We’ve won before, taking their hits, but only when the candidate or their spouse isn’t extremely funny.
Pray the gay away is funny to about half, right there. Add in seems gay, and then you’re talking funny to about 70%.
You just need to find a new candidate that isn’t ridiculously funny.
Christine O’Donnell is less funny, just as Christian, and we’ve heard everything about her already. Christine 12
They raped Sarah in the media because they were afraid of her, now it's Bachmann's turn! Her husband is not gay, but many in the White House are, including their Der Leader!
I hope Bashmann has a strong backbone, cause it's just begun for her in the media!!!

The story has been for the last 2 weeks that Marcus seems gay.
see dr marcus speaks on youtube. They have been setting up that story.
They won’t need to trash her children. If Marcus isn’t enough, they’ll mock her record, pre 2000, which is also poor.

Yes, Bachmann could win the gay vote in the primaries, from crossover Dems who very much would like to crush Bachmann in 12.
Do you really think gays want to be cured?
I guess it’s a matter of opinion whether or not
1) praying the gay away is funny
and
2) whether the guy who prays the gay away seems gay himself is funny
I watch TV, and I have an understanding of what they think is funny, and all that is funny.
And a whole bunch of other stuff in the Bachmann background is funny.
It just is, to most people, and it really isn’t close.
It’s all so obvious.
Why haven’t the gays mentioned Obama?
Why has the media overlooked this?

Appalled at how some of my acquaintences find Jon Stewart funny and consider him a source for accurate news reporting.
That was one of the most snide, sneering unfunny pieces I’ve ever seen and his expressions just made me want to slap him. He didn’t fare so well on Fox News without his idiot audience who giggle at his every word.
A guy who many think seems like Liberace curing gays with prayer is funny.
By “they” I mean, Democrats, Independents, Country Club Republicans, Limited Constitutional Government Conservatives.

Who doesn’t think it’s funny: Bachmann supporters. Some social conservatives who don’t watch TV.

You just need to find a new candidate that isn’t ridiculously funny.
We have a PRESIDENT that is ridiculously funny. The buffoons don't tell people to laugh, though, so they voted for him.
Slow down, turn off the laugh track, and think. You're telling me that a critical mass of folks in the electorate can't (or won't) do that.

I guess I don’t understand the attacks on Bachmann’s spouse as “seeming” gay when they are all crazy about an actual limp-wristed candidate/office holder whose wife seems more of a manly-man.
These attacks on candidates, their families, their looks, etc. are disgustingly adolescent.
