“He also knows that the McConnell plan is DOA in the House, but it LOOKS LIKE the Republicans are offering solutions, even though they are non-starters.”
Why not start actually *offering solutions* instead of playing defense all the time? I mean, after all the garbage that the Dems crammed down people’s throats the last two years, there has to be enough that could be thrown into the negotiations- to get rid of- to win popular support for the Repubs’ efforts.
Even if it’s going nowhere because of Obama, the idea should be to change this mentality that the GOP are the unpopular bad guys here- and get people to side with the Republicans in the bigger battle.
Republicans = clueless and gutless
Republicans = clueless and gutless
“Yes, McConnell has been very disappointing.
However, I am not convinced that we have anyone on our side that could be at point and do much better in this environment.”
—Republicans in a fairly Blue State (Minnesota) got the Dem governor to cave today after a ten-day shutdown. We need to stop listening to the constant excuses of the national GOP leaders, and go with what we know is right.
McConnell isn’t much of a man...what the hell is wrong with Kentucky?
Giving in is what the GOP does the best.
Here I sit in a state that may lay off HUNDREDS from four major hospitals over the next few weeks, and I see some jackass liberal woman with an 'OBAMA 2012' bumper sticker on her car at the farmer's market...my wife had to restrain me.
I fear.
McConnell’s offer could only look good to a dedicated Communist!
Bullsh*t. This is the democrat briar patch. If the McConnell plan is ever brought up for a vote in the House it will pass with Rino and overwhelming democrat support. Then the democrats will take credit for the resounding "bipartisan victory for working families" and the "proposed" cuts will be long forgotten by the time the ink is dry.
Like you say, they don't call it the Stupid Party for nothing!
I think Boehner may have done a good thing with his comments.
He telegraphed to Obama and Reid that he is not backing down a bit and the August 2 deadline is not going to change his mind (or, more correctly, he can’t get the Republican House to vote for new taxes).
He also knows that the McConnell plan is DOA in the House, but it LOOKS LIKE the Republicans are offering solutions, even though they are non-starters.
Here’s a solution:
1. Leave debt ceiling intact.
2. Have Fed forego all treasuries: forfeit assets which are a claim on the US government.
3. Sell national assets to raise $5 trillion, starting with offshore oil leases, onshore federal grazing lands, post office except letter carry service (no more junk mail).
4. Stop all Federal spending except as directly related to national military security, social security, and medicare.
5. Devolve all responsibility to the states for education, environment, housing.
6. Ban derivatives trading on dollars and other currencies.
7. Institute a 20% federal flat tax on revenue replacing all income taxes, capital gains, etc.
8. Demand Obama immediately resign for economic negligence. Accelerate General Election to Nov 2011.

Nothing. - They just elected Rand Paul as their other senator, and he is ready to cut it all.
McConnell is just a dishonest, power abusing fool.

Wrong!
Between the RINOs and the democraps, if it was allowed to come up, it would sail through easily.
