Most of the polls I've seen show a strong majority of Americans opposed to more massive borrowing and spending. Those polls are highly relevant in this debt limit debate.
Comparing 2011 to 1995 is a huge mistake since the situation is so different. Then we were not witnessing the collapse of Countries in Europe or seen our own debt almost triple in 2.5 years or had an unemployment rate over 9%.
As far as I’m concerned any pollster who does not release the demographics of the polling is suspect. For all we know group they sampled may have consisted of 60% Dims, 30% Rep and 10% Ind.
In any case these results are not consistent with other polling indicating by a spread of 2-1 Americans do NOT want debt limit increased.
That being the case, the question asked in this poll using the term “who would you BLAME” is misleading and should have been, “who would you CREDIT” if the budget limit is not increased.
