Margin marks first statistically significant lead among registered voters
by Jeffrey M. Jones
PRINCETON, NJ -- Registered voters by a significant margin now say they are more likely to vote for the "Republican Party's candidate for president" than for President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, 47% to 39%. Preferences had been fairly evenly divided this year in this test of Obama's re-election prospects.

It depends how many of them don't still blame GW Bush.
Just a dose of reality, once they have a candidate to attack i suspect it comes down,at least initially. Hopefully that initial onslaught is absorbed and it bounces back up.
Just remember, the poll was conducted before Obama’s “heroic” efforts against the “evil Republicans” to solve to debt crisis. Lol!
Generic polls are completely irrelevant.
Democrats practice the art of personal destruction. They do not run against “generic republicans”. They run against specific people who they try to destroy personally in order to win.
This is nice and may make you feel good to read but it’s not worth anything.
That was my first thought...if gallup has 8% the real number when they sample twice the number of dems is likely to be twice as bad for Obama....
You are not kidding.I used to spend no more than $55 a dollars and that was a trip with lots of extras now I am lucky to ahve spent $85 and that it by passing thigns I’d really lke to have....
um... well since 20% + are liberals (ie. socialists) and another 13% support Obama because they are racist and he has matching skin color. That gives him a base of support of about 35% which he is almost down to at this point.
Mitt Romney just had his name legally changed to “Republican Candidate.”
You are obviously talking about Susan Powter.
Stop the Inanity!
“20% + are liberals (ie. socialists) and another 13% support Obama because they are racist and he has matching skin color.”
Good point, but even some of them could change their minds if they get hungry enough because food prices, and everything else, are increasing.
Shock poll? I’m shocked it’s only 8%.
I didn’t think people would take very kindly to Zero’s threat to suspend social security Payments. Think of how many seniors living independent would all of a sudden need help from families already reeling from Zero’s economy.
Zero in his cheap political stunt allienated millions on top of the 25 million unemployed. Even Gallup couldn’t hide that.

Don't forget the 96.8% support he has among: newspaper reporters, tv anchors and producers, and the rapidly-dying "news magazine" hacks.
Their credit cards weren't maxxed out back then. They had that spiffy line of credit thing still going with the second mortgage. It was easier a couple years ago to pay for cable/sat, cell, internet, fuel, electricity, going out all the time..etc...etc.
These days? getting harder and harder to do so with that weakening dollar of ours.. Wonder why?
527s to support parallel campaigns for the Romney/Gingrich ticket can’t be far behind. The criminals of the Party of the Single Party State will try to win the election by winning the primaries.
Through her personal work on behalf of the 2008 Republican ticket, Palin distinguished herself as a powerful, thoughtful speaker, who was ahead of the Dims' plans to demonize her. It seems even McPain's staff was helping covertly to lead the charge to discredit her, a seed that was probably known and planted before McLame ever nominated her.
Key to a Republican win is not to allow the media and Dims to select our nominee again through their malicious election tactics.
