GOP veteran Ridge says Bachmann not ready, The Washington Times reports.
Former Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge said Tuesday that fellow Republican Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota congresswoman who has been surging in the 2012 GOP presidential sweepstakes in recent weeks, was unelectable and unqualified to be commander in chief.
Our ability to connect for both security and prosperity reasons now and forever more, I think, requires a set of experiences that she just doesnt have in her portfolio, Tom Ridge complains.
I think she obviously has great appeal to certain members of the party. Im looking for a winner, he states.
Theres much to be admired. But not enough to be endorsed by me, he concludes.
Im no Bachman apologist. She seems OK on guns (and GOA gives her an "A"), but I havent yet given her candidacy any serious scrutiny. That said, lets look at her critic Tom Ridges portfolio, to see what he considers a winner and to see what kind of policies he does endorse.
I dont have to look farI exposed this anti-gun RINO fraud for what he is almost 10 years agono need to reinvent the wheel here, lets just look at what we knew then:
Per [Gun Owners of Americas Larry] Pratt:
"Congressman Thomas Ridge of Pennsylvania was a surprise vote for the ban on so-called 'assault weapons.' Pennsylvania is a strongly pro-gun, pro-hunting state. And Rep. Ridge faced a primary the following week for a statewide office.
"When asked why he voted anti-gun, Ridge reportedly said, 'Those people aren't registered. Nor do they vote.' He was proven right. He won his primary."
Do we really need to know any more?
If he gets his way, this establishment piece of political dreck will continue the lesser of two evils

“’Shut up’ is not an argument, defense, or rebuttal.”
Good point.
STFU Tom Ridge!
There that’s better.
It just proves Ridge's point.
Bachmann is the Republican equivalent of Barack Obama: lawyer, no legislative accomplishments and no executive experience.
If she were "Michael" Bachmann instead, she'd be at 3% with Rick Santorum.
However, there is the fact that she is imminently more qualified than zero so is electable as a replacement on that basis alone.
Not at all. She's just as inexperience as he was in 2008, and maybe less so, since she's never even run statewide.
Your idea of "more qualified" means you agree with her, not that she's got more experience than a sitting president who, as a candidate, you probably saw as an empty suit.
Can’t belive GWBush put this man in his cabinet. I think time is not going to be kind to W.
When I referred to experience, I wasn't thinking in terms of campaigning. Running for statewide office or for that matter, 'running ' for anything doesn't equate to experience. A "sitting" president that has been nothing but a cluster f*** on anything he has touched also does not qualify as experienced in my mind. I did see him as an empty suit and I still see him as an empty suit. His time in office hasn't changed that.
Ridge has always struck me as one of those loudmouth blowhard types who put on a tough guy act and try to intimidate.
lol!
Saw your name (with a double-take) and thought I was dyslexic for a sec ;)
