McConnell admitted in an interview yesterday that his “Plan B” would not guarantee there would be any spending cuts, even should Congress vote to approve Obama’s requests. Thus it’s a straw dog of a plan. No way should this plan be considered.

This man can’t be trusted. He says one thing, then acts just the opposite. After his speech yesterday I had guarded hope that he’d made the proper decision. That’s the last time I’ll give him any credit.

In Clinton v. City of New York the Supreme Court ruled (6 to 3) in essense that congress could not transfer constitutional power to the president. The case involved a line item veto bill that depended on a very similar scheme for presidential action subject to congressional veto. It looks like politicians will try anything to avoid doing their job. Senate Republicans probably need new leadership.

Maybe McConnell is trying to put Obama on the hook for the debt limit increase. It might be a good idea, but the media won't let the GOP get away with trying to pin it on Obama. They'll simply attack the GOP as they always do, and the GOP will wimper and meekly back down. Best to do the right thing and simply let the deadline pass.
