I’ve seen this before, and speaking as someone who has easily put a dentist’s kid through college, I will ask the question:
Considering that a good number of my darned teeth rotted out, WHY would I want to spend a lot of money and go through considerable discomfort for new teeth just like them?
I’d much rather have clones of someone elses’ teeth, who actually has GOOD teeth with GOOD enamel.
I don't think it can happen for a number of reasons. Dentistry is big business, dental schools are big business, and I think bacterium are too smart to be put off for long by a vaccine.
FWIW, speaking of good enamel, the ex-wife didn't get a cavity until her mid-20s.
I think it’s more a question of diet than genetics.
Eating bread and other carbs create the environment necessary for the growth of the bacteria that eat away at the enamel. Acid drinks like soft drinks and carbonated water and acidic foods help dissolve enamel also................
Since the stem cells would have come from someone else’s teeth, your body would reject the teeth. Then you get into all the drugs, etc. to overcome the rejection. Better grow your own.......and then brush like crazy! Use the new ACT type mouthwashes, too. Get an ultrasonic electric toothbrush.
