It has taken three decades, but Americans are finally living through Jimmy Carters second term.
Now weve got Jimmy Jr. barking at us from the White House about eating our peas and ripping off our Band-Aid. He might not even let us have our Social Security checks.
These are just the latest in a long line of nagging lectures. Already, we have been taught how we should sneeze into the crook of our arm. We need to drive less. And we need to caulk up those drafty houses of ours.
What ever happened to the soaring rhetoric and big bold ideas President Obama promised us in that historic election of his?...................
Lucky for us, it appears more and more unlikely every day that we will have to suffer through a third term of Jimmy Carters.

And now for the Obama index: it’s 2011 out but feels like 1929
Maybe it’s Ted Kennedy’s first term. Carter could never, ever get socialized medicine through. As a radical marxist, Carter was a dismal failure, wasn’t he?
Shame there’s a summer heat wave going.
It would be hilarious to see the Scarecrow In Chief wearing a Mr Rogers sweater a la Jimmy Carter.
That is what I was going to say after glancing at the article. While bad for America, the innept Carter didn't have the arrogance of our current punk...
Don’t forget the Chief Scold’s laughable lecture on solving our energy problems by putting air in our tires. While he has his ever-present teleprompter, his listeners ought to have a laugh track to greet these lousy lectures from someone who knows nothing but is happy to share his wisdom anyway.
inept (as in I am inept at hitting keys)
He wouldn't wear one he would just tell us to wear one. . .
I never thought I would say this, but he is worse than JIMMAH! ! ! ! ! !
Should have used a Curad-it’s ouchless (if you remember the 1960’s era TV commercial)
O’Bowbow makes Jimmah look like a Prince.
Sitting by the roadside on a summer’s day
Chatting with my mess-mates, passing time away
Lying in the shadows underneath the trees
Goodness, how delicious, eating goober peas.
Peas, peas, peas, peas
Eating goober peas
Goodness, how delicious,
Eating goober peas.
When a horse-man passes, the soldiers have a rule
To cry out their loudest, “Mister, here’s your mule!”
But another custom, enchanting-er than these
Is wearing out your grinders, eating goober peas.
Peas, peas, peas, peas
Eating goober peas
Goodness, how delicious,
Eating goober peas.
Just before the battle, the General hears a row
He says “The Yanks are coming, I hear their rifles now.”
He looks down the roadway, and what d’ya think he sees?
The Georgia Militia cracking goober peas.
Peas, peas, peas, peas
Eating goober peas
Goodness, how delicious,
Eating goober peas.
I think my song has lasted just about enough.
The subject is interesting, but the rhymes are mighty rough.
I wish the war was over, so free from rags and fleas
We’d kiss our wives and sweethearts, say good-bye to goober peas.
Does his brother brew Barack beer?
The evil muslim communist Barack Hussein obama, AKA Soebarkah, AKA Barry Hussein Soetoro, is the WORST President EVER!!!!
He’s more like Vidkun Quisling than like Jimmy Carter!!!!
Great article!

Great post ! Funny old song. Had forgotten it was written during the Civil War. Wish Rush would start playing it as our anthem !!!!!
There’s a Burl Ives/Johnny Cash duet on Youtube
The 70s are easy fodder for jokes but think of the fantastic and diverse music that was created during the Carter years: punk, new wave, etc.
Music during the Obama years has been one long, auto-tuned, sequenced drone. Much like his speeches.
