Because of their studious cultural bent, Jews tend to be better off financially. (No they didn’t steal the world, they just worked smarter.) Mental health problems would be more likely to be addressed when it is less likely to be in a money pinch, like do I eat or do I see the doctor?
Good point, but I would also suspect that the incidence of psychotic behavior is more of a problem in urban areas. Something about living among large numbers of people makes a lot of people nuts. It may not always manifest itself openly, but I’ve worked in New York City a lot over the years and I would say that the average New Yorker — even wealthy ones — is quite a bit more likely to be mentally unstable than the population as a whole. That’s just my own observation, mind you.
