Hello group,

This is straight from New Energy Times. Puzzling news, to say the least:

Uppsala University Denies Rossi Research Agreement Posted on July 12, 2011 by Steven B. Krivit

According to a post on the E-Cat Report blog site, Italian inventor Andrea Rossi was in Sweden on July 4 and 5 to enter into an agreement with Uppsala University to perform research on the underlying physics of an invention by Rossi. He claims that his device produces clean nuclear energy.

Professors Sven Kullander, retired from Uppsala University, and Hanno Essén, with the Royal Institute of Technology, endorsed Rossi’s claimed technology in a news story on Feb. 23, 2011, before they had seen or inspected the device. Essén is the chairman of the Swedish Skeptics Association, a nonprofit education group well-known in academic circles.

New Energy Times contacted Senior Press Officer Anneli Waara of Uppsala University today in an attempt to confirm the story. Waara sent our inquiry to Kullander and Essén.

“According to Professor Kullander, there is no such agreement or preparing for an agreement as suggested by that information,” Waara wrote.

I often like what Jed Rothwell has to say, and this time it’s about Steven Krivit. Both of them are freepers.

Krivit is seriously departing from being an impartial observer.

K&E ... endorsed .... before they had seen or inspected the device.

Hardly “endorsed” : chock-a-block full of ifs and buts and speculation.

Why not mention that they evaluated the eCat and reported on it?

Alan understates the situation. “Seriously departing” is not strong enough. In case there are readers here who have not followed events:

E&K first tested the machine, THEN they endorsed it.

Krivit’s statement is astounding. It is either terribly confused or an outrageous lie. What could he be thinking?!?

Some people might claim that E&K did not do adequate testing, or that their methods were not good enough to support their conclusions. That is a legitimate difference of opinion. But it is clear that they themselves think these tests are sufficient to support the level of endorsement they made in NyTeknik. It is 100% clear that they did the tests first, then endorsed. Their endorsement was not unconditional. They left plenty of wiggle room for themselves in case Rossi turns out to be wrong. As they should; as any academic scientist would.

I don't know what Krivit's problem is, but honest reportage doesn't seem to be part of the mix. THAT much has been obvious since his first "preliminary report".

And I note that his "Report #3" which is actually supposed to have some DATA and supporting calculations in it has yet to appear. There was a hint in the Yahoo CF discussion group that he was being "helped" by one of the more rabid anti-CF sorts.

“I don’t know what Krivit’s problem is....”

It may be that, having staked out the ‘this has to be a scam’ position, Krivit will defend that position with fanatical zeal regardless of the facts of the matter. And/or as you suggested, he may be in cahoots w/ the hot fusion/anti-cold fusion crowd.

***Krivit is a freeper and would be welcome to answer your accusation.
