ORLANDO, Fla. -- Authorities were looking into allegations of witness tampering during Casey Anthony's murder trial, a Florida sheriff said Tuesday during a wide-ranging news conference with his top investigators in what he said was an effort to bring closure to a case that polarized the country.

Hey Sheriff, how can there be closure until OJ finds the “real killer”??
Oh wait, I guess the girl beat herself, chloroformed herself, tied herself up and tied herself in a trash bag and dumped her own body in the swamp??
Should have been so obvious it was a suicide!!
///extreme bitter sarcasm
I think we’re drinking from the same cup tonight.
This really sucks.
This case did not divide the country. The verdict OUTRAGED the country.
“The sheriff held the news conference to defend his investigation and because his office had been besieged with interview requests since the verdict.”
Could he be trying for a retrial, goaded by public response to this very public trial?
“She stunned prosecutors during the trial when she testified that she had done searches for chloroform on the family’s computer. Prosecutors believed, along with sheriff’s investigators, that Anthony had performed the search.”
Wow, if what I search for is admissible evidence, I’m doomed. Imagine if you were accused of planning a WMD attack, and they found all the stuff you looked at to learn of the Amerithrax case, and whether or not Ivins was guilty? Or all the firearms related searches, or “birther” searches?
“chloroformed herself,”
I missed that, was there evidence chloroform was used, or did someone have chloroform?
Yup. It is indeed admissible evidence. Always has been, as I understand it. Just like what magazines you have around, or what books you check out at the library.
Given the wild variety of stuff I search for, I could probably be charged with an amazing variety of crimes.
I hope we are cellmates- at least we have FR in common.
I’ve had contracts that involved pretty skeevy Web research, I’m doomed.
I read Texas Equusearch has filed a lawsuit against Casey today to recoup money they spent searching for Caylee.. wonder if anything will come of that?
She apparently often chloroformed the girl to knock her out so she could go partying.
Thats why I threw that in there.
Where did she get chloroform? Where did this info come from? There are many chemicals that are very difficult to get.
Was there evidence of purchases of chloroform? Did they find chloroform in the house? At autopsy?
I am wondering because I can’t buy chloroform here. I can buy ammonium nitrate, nitric acid, dichloromethane, but not chloroform, even by check with a signature.
Well, since you weren't there, didn't hear the testimony in person, spent no time in the actual jury room, don't know what grades the judge got on his law school exams, have no idea what color the car of the prosecuter's mother-in-law is, and certainly never did forensic neurophysiological analysis on the body language of the third court reporter... you can't have an opinion on the verdict.
///extreme bitter sarcasm, too
I know. Who was polarized about it except a few without commonsense and/or decency? Most normal people understand she did it.
She searched for “how to make chloroform” on the net so she may have cooked it up.
LOL! Good one.
So they found her lab. How hard is it to make chloroform? Can you do it in a kitchen with pots and pans? What are the precursors?
These freaking retard on that jury are the only one’s to blame. They were morons who didn’t even ask to review any evidence despite the fact that the mother was the last person to see her and didn’t report her “missing” for 31 days.
Her alibis were all proven to be lies...that jury will have to live with their lazy ineptness for the rest of their lives.
I didn’t follow this trial that closely. I don’t even really know if she actually really used chloroform. There was talk in some message boards and Facebook that she did.
So I added it to the diatribe for dramatic effect.
