The state of Illinois has declined to renew its foster care and adoption contracts with Catholic Charities across Illinois, possibly ending a historic public and private partnership initiated by the Roman Catholic Church a half century ago and potentially severing the relationship between 2,500 foster children and their caseworkers.
Lawyers for three of the Catholic Charities agencies will seek an injunction from a Sangamon County judge on Tuesday.
In a letter sent last week to Catholic Charities in the dioceses of Peoria, Joliet, Springfield and Belleville, the Department of Children and Family Services told all four agencies that the state could not accept its signed contracts for the 2012 fiscal year because your agency has made it clear that it does not intend to comply with the Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act.

Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Rockford voluntarily ended its publicly funded foster care and adoption services last month. Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley, an Ottawa agency, expanded and took over all of Catholic Charities' cases, staff and real estate.
"We have a strong community of private sector, not-for-profit child welfare agencies who stand ready to take these cases," Marlowe said.
Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Chicago ended its foster care services in 2007 after losing its insurance coverage. Cases and caseworkers scattered to a number of different agencies.

Also, this shows how committed the employees are to Catholic (and all authentic Christian) teaching...particularly on the subject of homosexuality. If the employees went with the foster care contracts and did not stay with the Catholic Charities...you can see how committed they were to the gospel. An abject lesson that I hope the bishops learned from this.
Having said all of the above, I am profoundly relieved that the remaining Illinois bishops did not cave to this.
ping for your lists as appropriate.
Please do highlight what happened to the Catholic Charities workers when the adoption/foster work was lost. This is a really important facet of the story that will probably be missed otherwise. It shows that the charity workers are not at all interested in the Christian identity of their work...and shows how corrupt the Catholic Charities USA organization is, as a whole.
why? why should those of faith be excomunicated from public life?
the state of il is establishing what is or is not sanctioned religious dogma.
if your religion sanctions homosexual conduct you are state sanctioned.
if your religion opposes the homosexual conduct you are excluded from public life.
it is in fact in that “gay agenda” list.
hey marko,
just how much charity work has your schism, sect or protestant splinter group done over the last 50 years.
Catholic Charities fought to not compromise their values on having homosexual men adopt children.
Just what kind of values do you hold that allows you to corrupt your values and stay true to your faith?

Catholic ping!
My "Sect" is Apostolic Christianity as held forth by the apostles and that subsists in the Catholic Church.
Catholic Charities fought to not compromise their values on having homosexual men adopt children.
Wrong.
The bishops, exercising their office as chief legislator, executive, and judge of their particular churches, required Catholic Charities to comply with the Universal Magesterium.
Don't be so naive as to assume that the lay-run Catholic Charities would not have gladly compromised their principles if the bishops did not force them to be compliant.
Yes, this was the poison pill from the get go. If the agency can't stand alone with donations from parishioners and other private supporters, it needs to reassess its viability. Of course, the ability to even place children for adoption without the state's approval is probably at risk regardless.
highlighting what happened to the Catholic Charities workers is the reddest of red herrings. Your feeble attempt to make Catholic Charities the bad guys is pathetic, when even a 10 year-old can explain to you that the bad guys in this whole sad story is the State of Illinois DHS who pushed the homosexual agenda until CC said no more.
Also, if you bothered to ask the Catholic Charities workers they would say they were adamantly against placing vulnerable foster children in homosexuals homes.
It raises the question at least in my mind: Question are you a homosexual?

Hey marko
my question remains: just how much foster placement of children does your Sect of Apostolic Christianity do????
Does Apostolic Christianity’s foster placement have a name?
Does Apostolic Christianity support forced placement in homosexual households?

Tell me again, why homosexual marriage is supposedly something between two guys over on the side of the hill? That their marriage doesn’t involve me, won’t hurt my marriage, so just leave them be.
Well this is exactly why homosexual marriage is dangerous. It winds up creating a homosexual political monster that crushes the rights of the religious and everyone else.
I received this in private mail.
“Markomalley is a Catholic. Why are you attacking him?”
my response to all:
because he does not know what he is talking about,
because he has a problem with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church (and you say he’s Catholic??)
because he is taking the side of the homosexuals,
because he does not live in Illinois,
because if he did he would truly know better to malign Catholic Charities, who is truly doing God’s work in Illinois.
because I live in Illinois and have been intimately aware of what has been going on with the state for going on five years,
because he is giving scandal to the Church.

Precisely, but it sure is hard to convince people, even Catholics, of that. They're so caught up in the popular culture's idea of 'fairness', that they can't see how it's wrong.
Placemark.

It's worth it to take the time to click the link and read the whole article. The short version is this: One of the main goals of the homosexual agenda is to destroy all morality and all religious institutions that promote real morality, by speech and deed. The homo-agenda is also about destroying the innocence of children and the real meaning of family and marriage. I read yesterday someone saying that since there are so few homosexuals and so few actually want to "marry" even when legally allowed, it doesn't affect him.
That is an extremely selfish POV. The homosexual agenda is all about destruction - of lives, of families, of children, of institutions, and of the freedoms of religion, association and speech.
Those standing up against the onslaught of enforced perversion are exhibiting the courage of their convictions, and their example should be followed.
My comment was rhetorical (tell me why....) rather than directed to anyone in particular.
I agree with what your insight about Illinois. Well said.
Correct. It is amazing how many people are blind to the danger of the homosexual agenda. Probably because they don’t go to church or if they do, they don’t hear it from their weak-kneed pastors.
