A pony harnessed to a trap died after it was forced into a Hampshire lake by a dozen people, the RSPCA has said.

The animal was dragged down into the lake by its trap as it tried to swim.

An RSPCA spokesperson said the group had lined up three ponies and encouraged them into the water.

One went in but when it tried to run free it was beaten back into the lake, he added.

This is just evil at work. You can just feel the whole of creation groaning.

That’s disgusting. I hope that the “people” responsible are exposed and become public pariahs.

Some human beings toss their newborns in the trash and beat their children to death. If they do that to their own flesh and blood it does not surprise me that they would harm an animal. I am not surprised but appalled nonetheless.

As a species, the human race is totally insane. I am absolutely convinced of that. I understand more and more why some people choose to be hermits or recluses.

The headline is totally misleading. Three ponies were attached to “traps” read chariots, and were being exercised, not beaten, in shallow water. One tried to swim across and drowned, but they tried to rescue it. One man trying to save the pony was kicked in the head. This story, the way it is presented, is bogus. There was no evil here except for the way the story as misleadingly portrayed.

What was done to the poor pony should be done to the perps.

One possible punishment scenario:

Find the people responsible, tie them to old lawn tractors and ‘encourage’ them to wade in to a deep lake. Beat them if they try to save themselves.

Just before they go under for the last time ask: ‘How do you like it?’

Ponies attached to chariots being exercised in shallow water? It doesn’t make a lot of sense. Can you explain more please?

Thank you. I did read the story and it was very unclear. I did wonder if your explanation was a possibility as this seemed almost too bizarre.

Can you post a different article which supports your claim? It strikes me that if the ponies were being "exercised... in shallow water", none of them would have felt the need to attempt to swim.

Exercising horses in shallow water is common, it’s a way to get them to use more muscle. What i expect happened is that one pony bolted and ran into the deeper water.

"As a species, the human race is totally insane."
As a species we are quite sane. The simple fact that the overwhelming majority of people are appalled at this story, despite it not being exactly true, demonstrates that. It's a small minority of individuals that are insane...ironically that includes, in some cases, the hermits and the recluses.

“The group was seen driving the surviving ponies along Minley Road in the direction of Yateley.”

And God only knows what they are doing to those ponies. The scary part is that this was`nt just one or two people. It was a dozen people getting their rocks off doing/watching the torture.

Where the hell in the article does it say that?
