MONTPELIER, Vt.Vermont's independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders says he's telling the White House more than 100,000 people want at least half of any federal deficit reduction package to rely on revenue from the wealthiest Americans and the most profitable corporations.

At the end of Sanders' letter, he calls on the President "not to yield to Republican demands to lower deficits by trillions of dollars only by slashing Medicare and Medicaid and cutting programs that help working families." Sanders appears to overlook any suggestion of cutting the rampant money give-away efforts that have squandered billions after billions of dollars.
Is there no end to the Marxist rhetoric??
If Dems were truly honest about this, then the 50% of workers who currently pay ZERO income tax would all be required to pay something. Everybody should have skin in this game, no exceptions. You earn income, you pay tax. Period.
Wake up folks. This is nothing more than Marxism (Communism) in progressive (Dimocrat) clothing!
I say make the Washington elite pay it all.
Don’t overlook the ‘Earned Income Credit”. People that don’t earn any money or pay any Income Tax withholding get FICA tax refunds. That’s an example of “To each according to need”. That’s Marxism (Communism).
Uhmmm . Why would there be?
Talk is cheap and it works fairly well on the dumbed down government schooled American public.
‘Rats should lead the way by sending in 25% of their gross assets each year. For the children.
Yeah. The “EITC” really irks me as it is nothing but a welfare payment in disguise, an end-run around the welfare reductions made about a decade ago.
It is outrageous that these corporations take losses in the U.S. and make billions overseas, then channel the funds to accounts in the Caymans, Bahamas and so forth.
By shukin and jivin, these corporations cause the middle class to shoulder a larger burden.
Forbes magazine had a great piece that touched on corporate profits verses the amount they pay in federal income taxes.
It's absurd. If only 50% of the article is true, it's obscenely absurd.
I'm sure that's true. This socialist won his last election with 171,000 votes. My question is, where are the other 71,000?
Our rulers in D.C. should not be paid anything until they are in compliance with the Constitution and have passed a balanced budget each year. Take away their pay, perks, and benefits until they are in compliance with the law. That's what he IRS does to taxpayers.
Oh, the old “100,000” magic Commie number lie.
Eat sand, Bernie, you unsalvagable socialist.
1000%- see my tagline....of course:
sacrifice to rats = their voting base pays $0 while everyone else foots the bill...
There is noting preventing the 100k sending in their fair share.
Both the "Earned Income Tax Credit" and "Oil Field Depletion Tax Credit" are tax loop holes. Everybody, except the middle class workers and small business owners, gets their tax loop holes.
A mugging by any other name...
When corporations pay taxes, who really pays them? We do. Corporations have to pay their employees less, hire fewer people, cut back on what they spend on their business, and/or pass along the increase to their customers. It is a great talking point for libs to talk about corporations as if they were some evil giant who will take the money out of its own hide, but that is false.
Ideally, there should be no taxes on businesses of any kind. Businesses do not pay taxes; people do. The less taxes businesses pay, the more we as consumers and employees benefit.
Next up...”We see you’ve been frugal your entire life and saved yourself quite a nest-egg in those 401k and 403b plans. You won’t mind if we help ourselves, will you?”
A full 100,000 people out of 300,000,000?
