Agency denies Rep. Hastings sexually harassed aide

WASHINGTON (AP) — An independent U.S. agency is denying claims that a former co-chairman, Rep. Alcee Hastings, made sexual advances toward a staff member and sought to retaliate when she refused.

In a court filing Saturday, the Helsinki Commission disputed the sexual harassment allegations by Winsome Packer, the commission's staff representative in Vienna from 2008-2010 when Hastings, a Florida Democrat, was co-chairman.

The commission's filing said that specific instances in which Hastings hugged Packer, gave her a music box or asked to see her apartment were out of general benevolence toward staff.

Hastings' response to the complaint was expected later Saturday. He has previously denied the allegations in public comments, calling them "ludicrous."

The “Helsinki Commission” is a “U.S. agency”? I didn’t know that.

He's a Black male.

It would be racist to charge him with anything.

Besides, 'it would serve no purpose.'

Let the PC protected classes battle it out. It's females versus the blacks. Who is more oppressed? Who has the juice to prevail in this racist patriarchal America? oh... the gal is black who was “humiliated” by Alcee’s rude advances

He also presented several boxes of uncounted ballots in Broward county after the 2000 election, which he claimed a constituent found in her closet, IIRC. As tough as it may seem to name just one, Hastings could be the single most corrupt member of congress.

From what I can find, the Helsinki Commission is an “independent” government agency made up of congressmen, including Hastings! The Helsinki Commission is aka the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe. What does it have to do with this case?

“Let the PC protected classes battle...females versus the blacks”

But Winsome Parker has unprotected herself by being a Republican, which makes her privileged.

Who would believe a stand-up guy like Hastings would do such a thing?

I forgot to mention that Packer (not Parker) was a member of both protected classes until she became a Republican.
