Wife calls fatal Vegas casino punch self-defense

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The wife of a Florida high school football coach being held on a murder charge said Friday her husband was defending himself when he threw a punch that authorities say killed a Utah man in a Las Vegas Strip casino.
Benjamin Hawkins, 37, pleaded not guilty Friday during a brief appearance before a Las Vegas judge. The judge scheduled a Tuesday bail hearing and set a July 21 date to hear evidence in the early Wednesday slaying of John Massie, 46, of Roy, Utah.

Sounds like he spun around and sucker-punched the guy. A poster at the original article said the victim even had his hands in his pockets. Sounds like Hawkins self-defense plea is already wearing a little thin.
Lock him up.

Can’t find the video, but comments on the site say the victim had his hands in his pockets, when this guy whirls around and sucker punched him in the face.
Sounds like the victim made a stupid joke about a black guy wearing a bright yellow shirt. But nothing aggressive on his part is related.
In the world of Holders people,, a sucker punch in a crowded casino in response to a stupid comment is “self defense”. His wife Letticia says so too,,

You have to wonder how some people think they can get away with just sucker punching someone. Particularly in a casino, where there’s security all over the place.
