CHARLOTTE, N.C. Police are combing the streets for a man who broke into an east Charlotte home Friday morning.
The shooting happened on Finchley Drive near Eastway Drive at about 9:36 a.m. The woman living there told police two men entered her home, so she pulled out her gun.
Neighbors say the woman who shot at the two burglars ran out of her home and went directly to her neighbor James Baileys home.
She came across the yard screaming. She was just jumping up and down. She was scared to death, said Bailey.
Investigators responded to the home trying to piece together what exactly happened.
Video from AirStar 36 showed the home surrounded by yellow crime scene tape and police cruisers.
Police say two armed men approached the womans boyfriend, who was sitting in a car outside the house. They forced the man inside the home and beat him. Police say the woman heard the commotion, opened fire on those two suspects. She killed one of them. The other got away, but he could be injured as well.
She was pretty sure she shot the other one," said Bailey.
Evelyn Cordero says her house across the street was robbed just about a month ago.
"They broke the alarm system to get in," she said.
Cordero said the neighborhood is gradually getting more dangerous. Fridays home invasion and shooting only worsen her fear. She says shes scared for her kids.
Definitely, because sometimes I have to go to work. And sometimes they have to stay alone. So I'm very scared for them, she said.
There is no word yet on if the woman will be charged or if it was self defense. Her boyfriend was pistol whipped by the suspects and was beaten pretty badly. Police say he will be ok.
Taxing the criminals seems to be best to me. They are a large factor in the cost of gov't.
>>> There is no word yet on if the woman will be charged or if it was self defense.
Considering this is still America, it’s self-defense until proven otherwise.
Why do they call these things “invasions”?
They make it sound like an army coming in.
It’s.....an.....INTRUSION.....
Better than most cops. She musta been using a revolver.
>>> And sometimes [my kids] have to stay alone.
Good grief, woman, shut up!
Does anyone else get the impression that these crime reports are written by sixth-graders? (With a target audiance of second-graders.)
A couple of JWs at your door is an intrusion,
someone forcing their way into your house at gun point is an invasion.
YA! That’s the first thing I thought too.
“Man killed in east Charlotte home invasion”
I hate these headlines because the Leftists writing them make it look like the individual living at the house was killed, not the intruding criminal. It should say,
“Criminal killed by law-abiding citizen in East Charlotte home invasion.”
There. Fixed it.
ya, if the kids stay home alone that means at least one is 12 years or older, don’t they know how to shoot?
First, the ones shot are not the "suspects" they are the "perpetrators." Second, they beat a man pretty badly, what do you suppose they could do to a woman? I'd give her a medal and some significant portion of the deceased's estate for her troubles.
The woman shot the two intruders afterwhich she was immediately tazed, maced and charged with 1st degree murder, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, illegal posession of a firearm, and resisting arrest. Ron Kuby, lawyer for the two victims, says he plans to sue the woman for everything she got just as soon as she is sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Mayor Mike Bloomberg, a staunch supporter of 2nd Amendment infringement even though the 2nd Amendment specifically states it "Shall not be infringed" says he wishes the woman could be executed as the two criminals never had a chance to probably rob her "and that's not playing fair!"
Boilerplate verbiage from the “news” source. NC has the Castle Doctrine, although putting it explicitly in the statute was just a formality, because shooting attackers was generally done anyway.
But in real life, who knows?
“ya, if the kids stay home alone that means at least one is 12 years or older, dont they know how to shoot?”
Here in Texas it’s almost considered child abuse if you don’t properly train your kids how to shoot.
Actually, most newspapers write their stories at a fifth grade. If you read at that level or below and you are considered to be functionally illiterate. The number of functionally illiterate or just plain illiterate in this country is at least 20 percent and growing.
Turd world here we come!
If it is after dark you don’t have to do so!
FReepers should give her a medal and a free one year pass to the closest gun range to encourage more exercise of her 2nd Amendment rights.
