This actually does not go far enough, I would clear-cut EVERYTHING within a mile of the border, five miles would be better.
Take away all cover near the border, make it harder for them to sneak across unseen.

Why are you not crying about the poor big lizards (dinos)? I'm not, because once that the extinction event happened, mammals grew and evolved after the large predators went dead.
