Maybe they should have publically excommunicated pro-homo and pro-abort politicians like the Cuomos, Kennedys, etc.

The origin of this problem is far deeper than you realize. There are too many voices all proclaiming to speak for christian teaching. Those "clerical" voices (and I use that word loosely) include christian "ministers" who live an active homosexual lifestyle and have 'interpreted' and preach scripture in a way that absolves them of any sin. Here is an example:

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah has been used by people to condemn gays. The argument used by them is that God destroyed these cities because the people of these cities were homosexuals. In this section we will show conclusive BIBLICAL evidence that Sodom and Gomorrah were NOT destroyed because of homosexuals. The only book I will use to show this is the Bible. The Bible does not contradict itself because it is the Word of God and God is not fickle.
SODOM AND GOMORRAH

This is the result of sola scriptura. Please do not lay blame at Catholic prelates for not "publicly" excommunicating politicians. Under Canon Law, these politicians have excommunicated themselves.

Regardless of the denomination to which you belong, I would ask you to step back from the picture and take a closer look at the landscape. For 1500 years, there was only one christian church - the Catholic Church. Today, there are more than 30,000 and growing. Why? Because they disagree on the interpretation of scripture.

Divide and conquer is the oldest method of warfare. Christians do not speak with one voice and that results in confusion. Each christian becomes his own pope and proclaims to have the truth. Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible? No. The word "truth" is used several times in the New Testament. However, the plural version of the word "truth" never appears in Scripture. Therefore, there can only be one Truth.

Without a unified voice, mayhem prevails.

No it is not.

This is a result of Scripture taken out of context.

Text without context is pretext.

Here is the Scripture the criminals probably tortured to justify their filthiness.

Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

True enough. But Pride is listed first. Think of "Gay Pride".

Then there is this from the Letter to the Romans in the New Testament that clarifies it for us.

  1. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
  2. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
  3. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
  4. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
  5. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
  6. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
  7. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
  8. Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
  9. Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

The Bible does not contradict itself.

I thought the schism with the Eastern Church occurred around 1000 AD, but I get the point. To equate “Reverends” Sharpton & Jackson with any serious adult clergy is laughable; they are as Christian as Osama Bin Laden.

What keeps the Orthodox Jews and Muslims more strongly opposed to homosexuality is the fact that the New Testament doesn’t exist for them; they didn’t have God’s original messages watered down with interpretations of Jesus Christ, who even the most die-hard liberal can’t deny ended many lessons with, “Go now, and sin no more”. When “Catholics” point to the lack of quotes from Christ itself regarding homosexuality, I remind them that He is part of the Trinity that brought destruction to Sodom & Gomorrah (which the media is bending itself over backwards trying to explain away with natural phenomena) and Leviticus.

Not that facts will get in their way...
