In actuality, it was a common plea from loyal Russians in work camps and collective farms when they were selected to starve to death because the collective had not met their quota and, as punishment, all production was taken by the government leaving none to carry them through the coming winter.

It was also heard in the Gulags and prison camps before execution for hoarding and black market crimes. It was heard a lot.
