When I worked in Fort Worth and Texas was getting ready to dispatch someone in the early 90’s by electric charge, we used to dim the office lights so they had enough juice to send him to the eternal dirt nap.

In honor of that long ago habit, I think the lights should be dimmed today at 6PM and hopefully Perry will not cave in to this outlandish demand. Too long for what should have been done long ago.

Why execute this young kid. After all, all it did was kidnap a gal, rape her and then rape her again with a broom handle with a screw attached to the end of it, torture her(or what was left)to death and then attempt to cover the lifeless body underneath tons of black top. If this was done in the wonderful peaceful Mexican city, I'm sure there would be no execution</s>.
Perry does have a problem with national attention without the media repeating the facts.

Fry him. Then, to be culturally sensitive...refry him.

Let’s see what Perry is made of.

Rick Perry will take an avalanche of media blast, opposition, smears, gossip, and general slander no matter what happens in this case. Death penalty states make it impossible for sitting governors to simply govern well, and instead ties them to a railroad track forcing them into decisions on life and death. This is beyond too-much for any single human being and has to be personally and spiritually destructive. This issue keeps good people from running for governor. There needs to be another way.

That’s a hell of a headline.

My understanding is that the rapist-murderer came to the U.S. as a two-year-old, lived here his whole life, and claimed to be a U.S. citizen.

Now all of a sudden he’s a “Mexican”?

Bull!

He’s a “convicted murderer” and soon he will be “dead”.

If I remember correctly, while he was president George W. Bush once tried to prevent Texas from executing a savage, evil, murderous Mexican national.

He was WAY more competent than president Obama and he was not successful, so I am hoping for the best.

If the supremes stop it in recognition of the ICJ ruling, they are giving an international court ruling weight of law here. Simple as that,,, it wil be time to retake our sovereignty,,, by election IF possible.

In TX, if you choose to rape and bash in the head of a 16 year-old girl, prepare to say hello to Mr. Needle.

GW Bush tried the same thing (Have the Supreme Court deny a Texas execution) back in 2008. Didn’t succeed then:

I may be wrong, but from what I understand, Perry can't do anything to stop this unless he gets a recommendation from the Board of Pardons and Paroles to do so.

Texas: The Governor and the Judiciary

Unlike governors in many states, the Texas Governor cannot independently issue a pardon or sentence commutation. In death penalty cases, the Governor can issue one thirty-day reprieve. He or she can also make recommendations to the Board of Pardons and Paroles and can either approve or reject the board's recommendations on pardons or sentence reductions.

We have to wait until 6? Gees. I always thought 12:01 am was the magic time on those execution dates...

This is true.

Texas has a very low tolerance of that type of thing.

We WILL kill bad guys dead and they WILL NOT commit more crimes.

He raped and killed a young girl.

Yes, I know. Was merely putting the focus back where it ought to be...on the crime, not the nationality of the criminal.

Funny, Mexico didn’t give a smelly Obama about this t*rd whilst he was here illegally - raping and killing.

As far as I’m concerned, we should suspend all diplomatic relations with that joke of a corrupt country (well, slightly more corrupt than our present cretin-administration), and give them 6 months to initiate their own border patrol, or else it’s war.

No kidding.

To quote the late Robin Harris:

Officials in California say they don't execute anybody b/c they can't find anybody to pull the switch. They just ain't asked the right MF, b/c I'll pull. I won't even take a lunch break. 2 MFs at a time. Gotta go! Gotta go!
