But Rep. Frank Hornstein, DFL(demonrat to those familiar with MN)-Minneapolis, one of several DFL legislators who attended the rally, said he was surprised the shutdown did not yet seem to be resonating with many Minnesotans. “I thought there would be a lot more tension on July 4th,” Hornstein said of the many Fourth of July parades across the state. “I’m surprised. “But I think the longer this would go on, the public would get concerned,” he said.

MN elects a rat Gov. Rat Gov wants to raise taxes and shuts down the government when he doesn't get his way. Hilarity ensues.

The demonstrators have their unions to "thank" for their plight.

The leaders of any union see their primary responsibility as not to preserve jobs, but to preserve the union. C'est la vie!

Have them stop by a fruit and veggy store and pick up a sack of apples. Find a corner downtown Mpls and sell them for $25 each.
Wish them good luck.

If these folks are so unhappy about their situation, why don’t they go look for a “REAL” job instead of standing around complaining about being laid off.

Tells a lot about what type of people these are.

I have a question for someone from Minnesota. I understand that in MN the public union employees have chosen to be laid off during the shutdown (instead of taking furloughs). If thats the case, I would like to know how long before these folks can start getting unemployment? Is it immediate or is there a waiting period in MN?

I view this as a big rumble of thunder preceding the real storm that’s soon to come over the horizon and hit us all. When you see the storm clouds coming you know you have but a short time to get prepared.

The comments are really funny.

There is one guy saying he “chooses to be a public servant” at $120K a year and “has refused more lucrative positions” (or words to that effect.

What a freaking liar — the guy CAN’T get private sector job at that level.

If you include the standard State generous benefits, that $120K is probably close to $160K — we used a 1.37 multiplier to calculate benefits for filling State Positions. When I entered the private sector, the new employer payed me more, but when I started to have to pay what “real people” pay for health and the like, it was a lateral move.

The rest of the “boo hoo poor pitiful me” posts are pretty funny as well.

One man held a sign that took his frustration a step further – he had changed it from “Tax the Rich” to “Eat the Rich.”

Eat the Rich, good book by P.J. O'Rourke. This guy should read it.

The Article’s comment section is dominated by leftist who are of course playing guilt trip class warfare.

One of em even had the gull to complain about conservatives pitting people’s prosperity up against each other. lol

Theses people are compete bafoons, they seem to think its everyone else’s job to work hard to provide for them rather then themselves. That people are hurt by not being given the larger share of other peoples money. All the while they ignore the real injury which is the state forcefully taking that money from the people who actually made it in the first place!

Yes among other backwards nonsense these people spout. They can’t tell the difference between failure to treat a self-inflicted injury and inflicting the injury.

I for one am glad I don’t live in Minnesota with theses self-centered abusive idiots.

PS: The Federal Government should not be in anyway rewarding States that spend more money, with some of the tax dollars of other states.

I just love their chants to “tax the rich” the dim witts, they are the “rich”. An executive assitant for the St Paul Schools gets apx 60K per year. The union crybabies make probably double that. They’re so dumb it makes my ears hurt.
