FORT LAUDERDALE Police say wealthy retired businessman Ronald Vinci wanted to finally end his long-term relationship with his girlfriend.
During a "heated altercation" in the early morning hours of June 28 at Vinci's new multimillion-dollar home, police allege the girlfriend, Catherine Pileggi, unleashed a tremendous fury, fracturing his skull, stabbing him in the chest, slicing his throat and shooting him in the head.

I have been searching for a picture of the victim but none I can find? This story has taken a twist I just read that Mr. Vinci may have killed his lovers sister on his boat in on the Island of St. Lucia?

He was 70, and had everything needed to enjoy life.
She is 54, losing her looks, probably menapausal, and freaking out.
Really now women do not lose their looks at 54. Men go downhill after 50 and god knows what he looked like and how much Viagra he needed.

I made the comment about "losing looks" based on the photo of the woman involved, not her age per se. Please consider the two phrases as not necessarily linked in general.
FWIW, I'm 59, and so far have aged fairly well, praise be. My female friends are in that same age bracket, and some have aged gently, while others are in rougher shape and starting to break down. The woman in question here looked (from the poor resolution photo) like she is getting pretty brittle.
And yes, the fellow at 70 is likely in rough shape as well.
Nevertheless, I suspect he found himself a younger woman, got tired of this one, or both; either of those cases could be the real reason this one flipped her lid.

Okay, let's rephrase that: a rich 50-year-old man, or even a rich 70-year-old, generally has no problem getting a cute 20-something woman to share his bed (case in point, Hugh Hefner). A 50-something woman very-much-less chance of attracting a wealthy sugar-daddy.
And BTW, I'm older than him, and have no need for Viagra, thank you very much.

Man, like she lived vicariously through her wealthy husband (and millionaire isnt such a big deal as it used to be, because of inflation). She would have been smarter to swallow her rage for the moment, walk away, and sue for that old fashioned thing, alimony. She was with him for 20 years, so I can understand her being very pissed off (not THAT pissed). And he was more than just "millionaire", in that the article noted he had owned several auto dealerships, had "yachts, jets and a motorcycle collection". You don't own multiple jets with just a single million.
He was stupid to not have a security guy close by.

I meant to say, older than 54, not older than 70.

In another life she would have been one of Charlie Manson's women. She has “crazy” coming out of her ears.
What was that dude thinking?
Love is blind to a one eyed snake. In this case, a blind one eyed snake. Yuck...

Good for you. I'm younger than him and I just bought two bathtubs for the backyard overlooking the lake.

From what I've seen, these wealthy businessmen don't recruit their girlfriends from members of the choir at a local church.
