WASHINGTON - Representative Michele Bachmann has rapidly gained ground in a new poll of New Hampshire voters, tapping her popularity with Tea Party activists and potentially causing problems for Republican front-runner Mitt Romney.
The former Massachusetts governor, who has long dominated polls in the Granite State, had his lead cut to single-digits in a new survey done by Public Policy Polling. Although polls taken six months before voters head to the polls can be unreliable, they can also provide a window into a volatile Republican electorate.
Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican, would get 18 percent of the vote, according to the poll. That is far higher than the 4 percent she got when the firm polled in April.
In the latest poll, she trailed 7 points behind Romney, who would get 25 percent of the vote. Former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is the only other candidate polling in double digits, with 11 percent.

Name one Republican in the past 40 years that has lost Iowa and New Hampshire and won the nomination.
And then people start taking a real close look at Marcus.
What happens after that?
You seem to be anti Bachmann. She’s currently my 3rd choice.
However, take a very close look at Marcus. Research him on you tube. You will see what’s going to happen at some point unless Bachmann falls earlier than that.
What you said II
I like Bachmann. When Palin’s not around, she kinda sounds like Palin. There cannot be enough Palins, and Bachmann is the 2nd best Palin at the moment. She is pretty and she can memorize talking points and has a good delivery. It’s clear that she wants Obama to be a one term President, and so do we, and she’s pretty. But her resume is kinda scary, kinda weird, not very impressive, sorta sad and weird. And at some point, we’re gonna have to look at the whole thing unless something like “Palin gets in” happens. If the energy surrounding Bachmann, and there is a bit right now, doesn’t dissipate naturally, there’s a real problem, and Bachmann is more like Christine #2 and less like Palin #2.
just do as much research on him as you can. try youtube
Perry might get in and at this point I'd prefer him to Bachmann. She has as much experience as the current occupant had and it looks like her husband is turning out to be a time bomb. Add in her prevarications on subsides and the farm and she'll help Obama's blowout win look like '64 or even '84.
Watch who the Democrats cross over to vote for in New Hampshire...that will tell you who they think the weakest Republican candidate really is...
Besides the "barbarian" homosexual comments you've obviously seen or heard about there's this too:
Among them are Marcus Bachmanns credentials: He is not registered with any of the three boards that certify mental health practitioners and professions in the state. The Minnesota Board of Psychology and the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy confirmed to POLITICO that Bachmann is not licensed with them. And a search of the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy license database returns no result.SourceTrisha Stark, of the Minnesota Psychological Association, said that the title clinical therapist is not widely used in professional circles and that Bachmann is able to operate his clinic because of state rules regarding mental health practice.
Minnesota is one of the only states in which you can practice mental health without a license, Stark said.
Also, the infamous farm that no one can get the story straight on regarding the taking of farm subsides, whether or how much they earn from it or what role they play in it belonged to his father.
The staff of the two clinics, while consisting of both men and women, will no doubt be criticized for its stark lack of ethnic diversity.
Thanks. I do value your opinion.
Bachmann is in trouble! Being pushed by LSM/Rep Establishment. Gallup has her falling and falling hard and fast.
Weekly Standard/National Review pushing her only adds to my argument.
Fully expecting people to tell me Weekly Standard/National Review are not Rep Establishment...THEY ARE INDEED.
Bachmann does not get my support because she never PERSONALLY apologized to Gov Palin! In fact if she did now it would be hollow and empty. I wash my hands of her
Also ALL the pollsters have an agenda, they want to show MB gaining ground only because of their hatred/fear of Sarah Palin.
Same deal with National Review/Weekly Standard putting MB on front cover. To them their support for MB is only to try and take down Palin, this is what it is all about, nothing more.
Fox News/Ras polling etc are also trying to do their part.
And you are the guy that said last week that RCP now had MB in second place. It was incorrect then and it is still incorrect now. Gov Palin is still in 2nd place at RCP.
BTW I do not believe in the “science” of political polling, was just pointing out your false statement
She along with her husband, in the past have operated a Dairy Farm, which we know is a business.
After that, she started and managed her own business in the district she represents, which employed 30 people. I think it was a Charter School, although you have to dig and scratch to get and put these pieces together.
But when you say this, you get the hysterical, hate Bachmann screamers, who post in all caps, that just ad nauseum blast away that she has no experience.
Go Michele!!!!
Her and Palin = VICTORY
Bachmann / Palin
or
Palin / Bachmann
=
more balls than 99% of the GOP combined!
I am emotionally invested in no candidate. I do not spend my time attacking others’ favorite candidates in order to make me feel less insecure about the candidates that I support.
Supporters of one certain other non-candidate this year do that crap.
And you are the guy that said last week that RCP now had MB in second place. It was incorrect then and it is still incorrect now. Gov Palin is still in 2nd place at RCP.
Actually I did no such thing, you see I corrected YOUR assumption on that thread and then embarrassed you into silence (towards me) for a week.
Ready for round two?
