kabar/different thread: "Obama and the Dems are going to blame the Reps one way or another for his failed recovery. The Dems may actually want an impasse on August 2 so they can use that as an excuse. Schumer has already been saying the Reps don’t want a recovery so they can win next November."

Exactly. Here's Obama's Alinsky Options:

1) Limit not raised, but Republicans insist the t-bonds will get paid while harsh cuts are made elsewhere: but Geithner "fumbles" bond payments due to some made up obstacle...certain SEIU truck drivers were not paid, didn't show up to drive the checks to the post office....whatever. Republicans fault, the media says. Didn't think their rash actions through they will say.

Bond market goes nuts. All hell breaks loose as in the "crisis" of 2008. Obama goes "angry man" on TV, blames Republicans, campaigns on "Get rid of the corporate jet Republicans" through 2012. Alinsky wins that game. GOP routed in 2012.

2) Limit raised slightly, trinkets received in return. Tea Party goes nuts. GOP infighting turns all out war. Obama sits back and does nothing. GOP routed in 2012.

In the first case, GOP gets all the blame for EVERYTHING BAD in the economy from August 2011 till November 2012.

In the second case, we have the chance to drip-drip-drip bad news on Obama and keep the country out of a tailspin until President Palin or Perry or somebody can "right" the ship.

Also in the second case, we have the chance to self-destruct and 2016 will be meaningless.

Funny. But seriously. Say, if congress knows that Geithner is going to yank the carpet out from under bonds if there’s no dept limit raise, then what would you do as Congress?

I would try to pass a law that says Geithner MUST pay bonds first etc....except....of course....Obama won’t sign it, and/or, Timmy will still be able to “accidentally” mess up...since he’s already floated the balloon that he’s leaving after Aug 2 anyhow.

They have been floating a lead trial balloon that the Administration is going to ignore the debt limit as if it were the War Powers Act.................

Turbo Tax Timmy Geithner defaults after years of Rat deficit spending and a declining economy and the media can shift the entire blame to the Republicans?

I don't think so, the media is no longer in that position. They will try and fail, as they tried and failed with Sarah Palin.

More than enough will stick to Zer0 and the Rats that it will make 2012 difficult for 'em, and if Republicans stand firm with stones and spine the will motivate and unite everyone not hard left or Muslim traitor.

ON the other hand, if Republicans cave, they will permanently alienate all but the country club elite, ruling class RINOs who are no different than union Rats (RINOs are a union, after all), and the GOP is unworthy, untrustable, and dead.

Any delay in dealing with spending, a hard spending cap, and a hard debt cap, whether by cave, rollover, or saboteur stab in the back, will give the Rats enough time to permanently indebt and destroy America. The speed with which that point is approaching varies only slightly with Rats or RINOs in charge, and we must STOP and REVERSE that approach, not compromise on the speed.

The time is now, we must win the whole battle or perish. RINOs think they can make a deal with the Rats to be eaten last, but in fact the RINO GOP will be the first to go and as shameful, unworthy, untrustable, cowards.

Agreed. But I think the battle is between here and Nov 2012, not Aug 2011.

RINOs think they can make a deal with the Rats to be eaten last

Maybe that's the right analogy. Or maybe the right analogy is to feed the rats until we get to the other side of the election bridge and then blow it with the rats trapped on it.

Sad part is we have Boehner and Cantor who may not know what they're doing, and Ryan and Demint who are too naive to be able to navigate the MSM minefield.

Perhaps the answer is a government shutdown that “moderate” Republicans always lament. The public would be even more sympathetic to it given the mood and it would showcase the complicity Dems have to the current problem.

Ill take the 1st option, the democrats will be incapable of blaming us for all that goes wrong in an already bad economy. Obama is still president and OBAMA is not the republicans in the house is choosing how to spend what little money we have left.
It is Obama not the republicans in the house is vastly expanding the regularly state by mere excustive order now.

It is the democrats in the senate that are refusing to cooperate with all efforts by republicans to stop him.

The economy is Obama’s problem and if you need any more proof of that fact look no further then the intrusive activity’s of Obama’s EPA, and Obama’s labor administration.

Theses things are just a drop in the bucket of What Obama is doing by mere abuse of his excustive powers that is making doing business in this country extremely difficult, risky, and non-competitively expensive.

It is EASY for republicans to point out theses specific acts, as well as the acts Democrats have already passed in 2009 and 2010 now coming into effect as damaging the economy.
